Low Dose Estradiol HRT

Post by kitchkinet18 (imported) »

Hi everyone,

So, due to some recent discussions and honestly evaluating my life and what I want, I'm thinking that I may pursue physical castration sooner than I had expected. I'm 27 now and I always thought 40 would be a good time to be castrated. I always had two big holdups: work and the possibility that I may want children someday. But, due to recent soul searching, I've decided I don't want children. So my only holdup is work. I run a landscaping business. 90% of the work isn't overly physical. Mowing, weedwhacking, trimming, mulching, etc. Occasionally I'll get a stone job, but never anything big.

I'll be starting a 6 month depo provera trial soon. I feel that this is a must in order to make an informed decision on whether castration is right for me. But, assuming I like it, I think I may pursue castration within the next 3 years(around age 30). So I want to have my ducks in a row, even if I end up deciding it isn't for me. Plus, I figure this is valuable to others.

So let's say I'm surgically castrated at age 30. I always wanted to go without HRT, but after all the reading I've done, it sounds like a poor choice to do so. So I've researched all the various hormones and forms. It sounds like low dose Estradiol would suit me best. No or light feminization(I already have gynecomastia), mood and energy boost, bone health maintenance.

Here's my question(s): will low level estradiol allow me to keep running my landscaping business? And, to a lesser extent, I'm looking for input from eunuchs who use or have used estradiol. What's your experience been? Thanks in advance.

I started Spiro (an AA to kill testosterone) in July '18 and Estradiol in Oct '18. On Feb 15th, I had an orchiectomy performed. I'm currently 66 years of age. And I wish I had done this a few decades ago. My experience has been that I have enjoyed having lower T in my system, but being on the spiro without any hormones wasn't a good thing for me. Hence, I added the E at 1mg 2x day. I’ve noticed a big improvement in my moods and just general mental wellbeing. I don’t have long term results to share with you, but I’m sure that others here will report that. I’m no longer as physical as I used to be, but I’ve noticed a lessening of muscle ability. So far I’m liking the road I’m on.

I've been on low dose estrogen for 9 months (estraderm 100 patches, 2 or 3 per week). Physical fitness, energy and sex life are all good. There has been gradual feminization, 34A chest and a slightly rounded bottom. I'm 26, castrated Aug 2015 and was already somewhat feminine to start with. Happy to answer any questions, here or by pm.

Thanks for the responses so far, everyone. Hope to get a few more. Also, can depo provera and estradiol be taken together? Or does the depo provera block the effects of estradiol? I haven't found an answer to this. I'm assuming they can be, since depo blocks progesterone, which is the building block of testosterone and estrogen, so it doesn't block the estrogen itself, just theproduction of it. Correct?

I banked sperm in 2013 when I started to have significant problems with hormones, pain, and a tumour. Thankfully it wasn’t cancer. Anyway, It wasn’t cheap but I don’t regret it. As a young guy like you it’s worth keeping the option open.

Don’t know how well provera will keep mental clarity. How much estrogen in relation to life style is probably the million dollar question.

Physical mileage/life style/feminization

I miss being athletic and only recently felt good enough to run a bit and work out.

I'm OK with Winter sports, alpine and cross country skiing, I can do that all day without any problems, however I've been doing that for 10 years, 7 before castration and 3 afterwards. Gym training on the other hand can make me feel quite stiff afterwards, if I do heavy weight training exercises or have missed a couple of sessions I sometimes get sore afterwards, usually for 2 or 3 days. I did have a period immediately after I was castrated when I didn't take any HRT, I found training then very hard and it required a lot of will power. Compared to that training on estrogen has been relatively easy. You might want to ask Rafaella, she kept up her hobby of power lifting after she lost her testicles and has studied the effects of T replacement and estrogen.

Thanks for the response, Justine! Just wondering how often you go to the gym and what program you follow? I know I will have to maintain some type of workout regimen, so I was just wondering what yours was. Your low dose E closely resembles what I would like to follow.

Yes, thanks for the response. With the 100 patches have you transitioned or staying adroginous? I am not familiar with estrogen dosing. I have read of .5mg daily or 1mg every other or 1mg a couple times a week. Does anyone know a target blood level for someone try not to transition but keep the peace hormonaly and physically.
