Anyone have trouble sleeping after starting TRT ?

I've been having disrupted sleep after starting TRT 1 month ago. Shortly after I began testosterone replacement injections I've found I often wake up at 4 or 5 am then have trouble getting back to sleep again. Otherwise everything has been fine with TRT, good erections, strength, energy etc. Maybe nothing to do with it of course but I just wondered if anyone had experienced the same thing.

I moved to the rub-on gel to mitigate the rollercoaster effect of the injections.

With an injection every two weeks the highs and lows were crazy making. I thought about switching to once a week injections, but the cost of the injection was the same irrespective of the doseage (I was going for a nurse's appointment for the injections).

The cost was an issue. The brand name rub on gell wasn't covered by my insurance. So, I found a compounding pharmacy that will make a pump that contains three-months of rub-on cream for $150. Finding the compounding pharmacy was easier than I thought. The pharmasist called the doctor and they worked out the way the Rx needed to be written. I had to get a paper prescription from the doctor. To use the same name brand rub-on gel was $600 for three months.

Maybe do the injections yourself? I did for many years with no trouble. If you're a big baby and don't like the needle, it can be a very small diabetic one, and the volume to be injected is also small. T cypionate or enanthate is thick and oily so it takes a while to draw up with a small needle. It shouldn't g into a vein, but it seems to matter little if it goes into fat or muscle. Diabetic syringe needles are available online, for $0.30 and up. Google it! Not bad for a once a week med?

Could be you have to low or to high T level. Both isn't good for sleeping.

Yes, gel in the morning is perfect nearly the natural level and at evening it's lower then over the day.

But generally, I have a real good sleep with TRT and really bad without.

Just the opposite for me and I'd tend to think it's unrelated. I've been off TRT for nearly a year and went through a stage recently where the same thing you described occurred. I'd wake up between 4 and 4:30 unable to go back to sleep. After a few weeks it resolved and my sleep pattern returned to normal.

But be aware that whenever you change something as delicate as your hormone balance it takes your body time to adjust. Give it a few weeks and hopefully it will resolve.

You can try (natural, from yams root!!!) progeserone creme before you go to sleep... it's really healthy and you sleep really good and deep.

Also have a hard time sleeping on injection days. I inject .3ml twice a week usually get 5hrs sleep vs 2hrs and it is low enough that I don’t get nauseous and through up.

Gel was the worst made me very sick. Either got too much and had 3-4hr erections and nauseous or did not get enough best I could do was 1/4 dose twice a day.

The patches they itched and burned but I felt really good. Had to stop cause I was sweating them off. Guess I’m an odd one helps if your not allergic to test... I don’t know I gues that is what it is.

I ask for prometrium micronised progesterone every time I’m at my doctor. Used progesterone cream for almost a year think it was building up in my system. Some women have that trouble I gues it gets stored in fat.

DHEA made me feel amazing for about 2.5 months. Slept great and was happy for no reason just happy. I don’t think I felt that way since I was a child.

Also my natural ability to deal with stress has worsened causing sleeplessness. Kind of have to purposefully focus on my zen not stress and mess with the guys at work even if everything is going wrong.

I usually rotated left shoulder arm, then right, chest, right and left thigh, trying to stay away from hair and fat. Don’t know if the fat part is worth it or not but I tried to keep it from absorbing into fat. It’s what I told myself anyway.

When I used testosterone gel I think they told me shoulders, stomach, and thighs.
