Seeking Orchiectomy

I have long been aware of Dr. Arnkoff as one option for getting an orchiectomy. I have made excuses why it wasn't the most convenient location with having to fly there. Something closer to home would be more convenient. Does anyone have experience with Dr Karen Boyle with Chesapeake Urology Associates? Her website says she performs transgender surgery and mentions orchiectomy. I don't know if that is for eunuchs who don't wish to transition to female.

What is the best order of events? I assume she would require a letter. Do I contact her to request an orchiectomy and then find someone to write the letter. Is that something the doctor and her staff would assist me in doing? Or do I need to find a doctor who can make the recommendation before approaching her office?

Yes, the best thing to do is contact her or just call her office. Tell them what you want, be up front and honest, and then see what they say. Every doctor/surgeon is different, you'll get different but similar answers. A lot of these doctors/surgeons are loosening their requirements.

I am still new to being a member of the forum, so I couldn't see a way to message you.

I am still trying to work things out in my own mind. I know that I want freedom from the hormone surges. I need to figure out how much of my hesitation is fear, how much is lacking information, and how much is a desire to keep my original equipment intact. I know this can be a life changing decision.

Money is a definite factor, especially since I was without a paycheck for a month due to the government shutdown. Having to fly to another part of the country and stay at a hotel for several days would add to the costs. Even if I decide this is the right course of action to take, I might need to wait a while to save the money needed to pay for it.

Having a Dr in DC would make it much more convenient. I wouldn't have to worry about travel or staying in a hotel after the procedure. I believe Dr. Karen Boyle is in the Baltimore area which is doable.

I live & work in NYC, DC sounds much better and easier to get to than Detroit (the train ride isn't too bad, no long car rides and dealing with the TSA at the airports).

Too bad that there wasn't a eunuch-friendly & hassle-free doctor like Dr Arnkoff in NYC. An orchiectomy isn't brain surgery, but the doctors make it a needless expensive and long process with letters from shrinks and too much paperwork.

I m guessing it has more to do with drs fearing hassles from their fellow drs and their state licensing boards and lawsuits from men changing their minds after emasculation that keeps more drs from offering a simple operation. Castration surgery is openly offered by almost every animal vet across the world. Vets can do castrations in office or in the field on a daily basis for animals. Want a pet castrated, and every small town has a few vets able to fit you in within a few days and complete it for a small price.

Its fear of reprisals and peer pressure that prevents drs from offering it to any man when he chooses. I imagine vasectomies were controversial and less available at the start of offering those. Now men can get a vasectomy easily, cheaply, and close to home, any time they choose.

If insurance companies started counting up the cost savings of castrating men and offered full insurance coverage for voluntary castrations, countless drs would offer men easy castration services.

It's too bad the LGBTQ community hasn't been helpful with castrations. Mainstreaming eunuchs couldn't hurt. That way, it would be easier to get psych letters, and a willing surgeon. With more surgeons, and psychologists, the price will come down.

It is getting better than it used to be just seems really slow but at least moving in the right direction! Seems like a less need for things like I did with Calcium Chloride 6.5 years ago.
