Participating in the Celebrity Death Pool
Would any of you participate in a celebrity death pool? I decided to be a bit more social at work, and my boss is the "Funeral Director" for our office celebrity death pool.
So, am I being social, or am I on the fast bus to hell?

I'll take Gene Hackman for $500. I hate to pick him and I hope I'm wrong... he's one of my favorites in the old movies - dude has balls big as church bells on the big screen and in real life.

Re: Participating in the Celebrity Death Pool
I get 20 picks and 5 alternates. I'm trying to find more obscure celebrities I think might cash it in this year. The reason for that is if you pick someone nobody else did, you get extra points. So everyone knew Aretha Franklin was on hospice, and that happened 1 day before she checked out. We get to trade people once a month, so people put her on their list as trade day was the same day.
For me, it's the balance, get someone nobody else has and hope nature takes its course.
Points are 100 - Age, so you wouldn't want Olivia DeHaviland who is 102. You'd get -2 points for her.
You also get 25 extra points for a suicide, 25 for a murder (no, you can't murder your picks), 25 if they're a rock star, 100 points if they die on Dec 31, 50 if they die on their birthday, etc. So, Betty White would only be 3 points a week from now. But if I am the only one who picks her, it's 28 points, and if she dies on Jan 17, it will be 78 points. If she gets murdered or kills herself on her birthday, that makes her worth 103 points.
Last year, only one person in the pool had Burt Reynolds, and he won on the extra points for his single pick.
People I have in my list:
Primaries: Betty White, Bob Barker, Bob Dole, Bret Michaels, Danny Bonaduce, Danny Trejo, Jerry Mathers, Jimmy Carter, Johnny Depp, Max Baer Jr., Mickey Rourke, Micky Dolenz, Montel Williams, Olivia Newton-John, Owen Wilson, Ozzy Osbourne, Richard Hammond, Richard Simmons, Val Kilmer, and Valerie Harper. Alternates: Frankie Muniz, Michael J. Fox, Tina Turner, Selena Gomez, and Stephen Baldwin.
So I have Rose from the Golden Girls, Jethro from Beverly Hillbillies (he's the last one), The Beaver, Marty McFly, and Batman.

Funny, I immediately thought of Trump (I think something has to give but thought that last year too) and Olivia DeHaviland! The latter being the more interesting as it would seem she'd not be the first to come to mind.

Re: Participating in the Celebrity Death Pool
I suppose in my celebrity dead pool will be Billy Connolly Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton. However I am generally wrong on such things.
Re: Participating in the Celebrity Death Pool
The only one that comes to mind for me is William Shatner.

Re: Participating in the Celebrity Death Pool
I put William Shatner in today as a swap for one of those in my list above and before I read this, but I also removed him in favor of the person I bought my house from, who is a minor/obscure celebrity. I will not say who that person is for what should be obvious reasons.
Re: Participating in the Celebrity Death Pool
Given the headline I just saw, I'll throw in Ozzy Osbourne for the list for 2019.
