Hey @Frida,

Congratulations on finding a good endocrinologist. Just finding one is difficult, find a good one is a great step.

TopManFL: I've never seen an endocrinologist, THAT'S great advise to give

Well, I guess none is better than a bad one. I too am lucky to now have a fine endocrinologist who is supportive and has "seen it all".

While, I guess it would have all worked out with none, I feel better with this one, referred by the shrink.

I think most endocrinologist end up doing a great deal of work with diabetics. They do all the glands and hormones. Yet, I'd assume the most common hormonal problem is surrounding insulin and the pancreas.

I went 5 years post thyroid cancer without an endocrinologist. Never missed one test, blood draw or scan. I did have to occasionally remind my GP that a scan was due and I've learned to ask for a neck check at almost every doctor's appointment except the orthopedic.

Then, I moved and my new GP sent me to an endocrinologist that is 100 miles round trip. Not a big deal. He took good care of me for 2 years and then he got really sick and more or less closed his practice.

The next endocrinologist was 130 miles round trip and I didn't want to commit to that. My new GP is now doing my thyroid meds as long as I see an oncologist every year.

But, I'm past the magic 5 year mark.

I'm not sure exactly what happens at five years - I think they just stop keeping track of mortality rates. With any cancer, you always here what the five year survival rate is. OK, then what? I've never heard what the 10 year or 40 year survival rates are.

Anyways, if you can find an endocrinologist that you tolerate even a bit, it's a good thing.

Hi Frida.....thanks for your update. Does your doctor suggest you continue with the spironolactone? Also, do you or your doctor have any theory on why your testicles are so different in size? Maybe the amount of shrinkage depends on where in each testicle your CaCl injections were made?

I quit spironolactone because I felt no difference with or without it and also to save money. The doctors have no clue what happened to my testicles. I have injected the same amount in both so I also have no idea why one shrinked much more than the other one.
