I just watched a video from some dealer showing off a new Ford Ranger. Of course, it never went away; it just wasn't sold in the USA anymore after the 2011 model year.

Nearly made me blow a cerebral hemorrhage. It's not a truck; it's a Lincoln with a pituitary issue.

Never mind the sick joke of the 2.3L Ecoboost turbo engine from the Mustang, making 270 hp instead of over 300.

I almost made it to the interior tour before I threw up.

That thing wouldn't last a week with me driving it.

My 1997 Ford Expedition 4WD has the Big V-8

They don't offer it anymore.

Replaced by some EcoBoost miniature.

And I must turn the key to start the engine.

I don't ever want a touchscreen integrated in my car.

A car will no longer age when the mechanics wear out.

A car will age when the computer gives out and fixing it will be so costly that . . . . .

BTW before the Expedition I had an extended cab Ranger with

the extra fuel tank. I converted from Toyota to Ford. So much

more comfortable. Softer ride.

I look forward to seeing the new Bronco. Although I would not buy one.

I like my old, more mechanical cars. 2000 Toyota Rav4 too.

My car only has a 1.9L Turbo Diesel with about 130 hp. But it's 12 1/2 years old and just reached 250000 km and is still running good. So tiny motors are not necessarily bad

Moi, you and I are of the same mind there.

All of this new tech is just something else pricey to break.

I've come to the conclusion that I will happily replace an engine (4.0L six) or a transmission with a Jasper drop-in rebuild, then repair the other, if need be.

I wonder if Grandpa's generation felt the same way about dimmer switches moving off of the floor, and automatic transmissions, air conditioning, etc.? I know he and his friends certainly had a fit when electronic ignition came out.
