How long can you stay on androcur?
I have been chemically castrated on androcur now for 7 months and am loving it. I would like to make it permanent but don't have the funds. What is the longest anyone has stayed in androcur for? Why did you stop? If there is a long term risk, is there an alternative that doesn't cost a fortune?

..don't think about. You can take regulary. Of course with check of health included. It makes a difference which amount you take with which effect. If you plan permanent you must take regulary. To start it's good, but if you plan permanent, the surgery will be better..good luck.

Re: How long can you stay on androcur?
I have supplemented Androcur with Tamoxifen. The two combined required significantly lower dose. My Androcur dose dropped from 100mg/day to 25mg/day. Tamoxifen is substantially cheaper, and I took 10mg/day. So the total cost per day dropped significantly.
I eventually stopped after about 4 years, and all the changes became permanent. So, now I don't need Androcur at all and remain a eunuch.
During the 4 years, sometimes I'd stop for a few months. Whatever changes I achieved would reverse, slower and slower, and in lesser and lesser degree the longer I had been on this journey. For example, after a year or two, then I stopped Androcur, I might have libido and be able to get hard again, but no longer hard enough to penetrate, and the ejaculate remained just a few squirts of clear liquid. So, I knew I was making gradual permanent changes towards eunuch state.
Now, after 4 years and no longer on Androcur, I'd go for 3-4 months before I'd feel like any release. And I would be completely soft, even though I could still climax. The ejaculate would be just a few dribbles of clear liquid. However, the climax, though different, still feel good.
So, while every body changes differently, my guess is 7 months would not be completely permanent. Most of the male functions would eventually return, just maybe not 100%.

Re: How long can you stay on androcur?
I am always a little confused about results as they always seen to come back in a different measurement. Last 2 were in PG/ML. In August whilst on androcur it was 29, and after being off it for a month it was back to 164. After a couple of months off, I am back on 25 mg a day, so hopefully dropping back down again.

Yes. When I was experimenting Androcur alone, I had to go to an unsafe 250 mg to start feeling lowered sex drive. Else, I was beating off reading EA here.
When I started adding Tamoxifen 20 mg to Androcur at 100 mg, I felt I went into a complete vacuum of any feeling sexual or even sensual, which freaked me out a bit. Dry orgasm on soft penis. I then slowly reduced my dosages, and I was happy at Tamoxifen 10 mg to Androcur at 25 mg. I was not a complete vacuum. But I was did not have sexual urges. My sexual urge went from 3 times/week before any Androcur + Tamoxifen, to once every 3 weeks, and eventually to once every 3 months, with just a few drips of clear fluid from a soft penis.
While I enjoyed the positive eunuch calm, low libido, and shrinking genitals from my low testosterone, I also experienced the negative side effects, such as fatigue, loss of breath, weight gain, and after 4 years, even depression. That was the time I decided I had to stop Androcur. And happily, the negative side effects started to diminish, but my all my desired effects of low testosterone remained.
Incidentally, Tamoxifen, or Raloxifene, work similarly. As anti-estrogens, they can further add to lowering libido and sexual functions. And especially Raloxifene helps reduce risk of developing osteoporosis, which is a silent negative side effect of low testosterone. I am currently taking Raloxifene to hopefully prevent osteoporosis.

Re: How long can you stay on androcur?
Sftinenu, thanks for that insight. I think it takes less time and a smaller dose for effects to start each time I go back on androcur. Is this true for others? I am guessing testicles won't die and shrivel like say with injections? They are still getting blood flow, just blocking the T production right?

Re: How long can you stay on androcur?
I've been on 100mg Androcur and 60mg Raloxifene for 8 months now and I'd say my libido is almost zero. I noticed around maybe 40% shrinkage in my balls after around 4 months. They may have continued to shrink since then, but it's such a slow process it's hard to notice. Erections and morning wood are still a thing, but I have other plans for that :p
i guess at this point (beyond 6 months use), I'm risking permanent shut down of my balls, but I don't think I care anymore.

Re: How long can you stay on androcur?
I’ve been on 50mg Androcur & 20mg Tamoxifen a day for a little over ten months now, with no ill effects.
Due to an unrelated medical issue I’ve had quite a few blood tests over the last few months, a CT scan, and received a lot of attention from doctors and consultants. I’ve been quite open about my self medicating and there’s no evidence that it’s done me any harm…

So do you think you have permanently changed the functionality of your testicles after 10 months Zebedee?
