From a news article
Soon after the recent capture of Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the al Qaeda operations chief, AOL reacted with alacrity: "Making A Terrorist Talk: If Not Torture, What's The Best Way To Break Him? Tell us."
One of the first to respond was a creative fellow who suggested that Muslim terrorists be placed with swine, since the eating of pork is forbidden. "Then we should give them a sex change operation." Ouch.
Sex change operations aside, the question remains whether the United States should ever resort to torture to pry what could be lifesaving information from suspected terrorists. Apparently, more than a few Americans think so. Among them is the lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who would, however, involve the courts. In effect, the government would have to ask a judge for a torture warrant.
Dershowitz, no slouch as a civil libertarian, is a prominent member of the "get real" crowd. They argue that we are in a new kind of war and need new kinds of rules. This is especially the case when faced with the so-called ticking bomb predicament: What if a captured terrorist knew a bomb was about to go off somewhere? Should he be tortured to reveal what he knows?
So Archive Members what do you think?

Re: Making A Terrorist Talk
Very simply, you do to him what we take for routine - which is why they can't stand us to begin with! Exposure to the debauched and evil American lifestyle! Totally human, even mundane, by our standards.
First off, you hold him in a room at a Motel 6. The beds should be enough to make him start talking by morning. Keep the TV turned on, on cable, to QVC/Home shopping club all night.
Make him use the house toiletries, and then take him to Waffle House for a rousing breakfast of bacon, ham, eggs, sausages, toast, all served by a young waitress scantily dressed. Have her hit all over him.
Lunch - Pizza Hut buffet, all you can eat, pork topped pizzas and beer.
Afternoon entertainment? Take him to some sex shops and a few malls so he can see the ladies section of unmentionables!
Dinner? Find a good place with ribs - lots of ribs and beer, served by scantily clad waitresses again. After dinner, some nice violent R-rated movies with lots of scantily clad women and sex scenes.
Then it's on to the titty-bar to tuck some bucks and more drinking, while snacking on pork rinds and listening to loud rock music.
Religious observation? Find a nice, loud Pentecostal church in the rural Midwest and make him go THERE to worship.
He'll be talking in nothing flat, probably even confessing to the time he cheated on a test in the third grade.
Simple and cheap.
(I know this would be more than enough to break me!)
:tongueout

Re: Making A Terrorist Talk
well.................
torture is extremely counter productive. without even getting into the notion that we are better than that, a tortured person will invariably tell the torturer what the torturee thinks you WANT to hear.
from what i've read, the info found laying around his apartment (lists, phone numbers, computer files, etc) was infinitely more valuable than anything he will tell us.
not to criticize the people who nabbed him, but couldn't they at least have given the guy a chance to comb his hair and shave his back????
max.
paolo: i agree with motel 6 as torture, but i would add "dinner in a holiday inn"

Re: Making A Terrorist Talk
Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Take him to Russell's Restaurant on Airline Highway. It has to be the worst place in the world for dining. The second worst place is the Davis Cafeteria anywhere in Georgia. The third worst place is any Piccadilly Cafeteria anywhere in the Southeast and a few other locations.
Make him listen to Jimmy Swaggart preach, play the piano, and sing. Then make him shop at Wal-Mart anywhere in the universe.

The worse torture would be to take him to a George W. Bush press conference. :tongueout

Re: Making A Terrorist Talk
...I hate to be judgmental, but I do not think that for these assholes that Heaven is an option, anyway.
Of course, they do not kow that.
Isn't it interesting how Dershowitz "converted" from Civil Libertarian to conservative American?
I wonder if he has been talking to his Rabbi again?
