Body mods and motivations
About a month ago I started a thread called "Mod addiction" in which I expressed worry that I might become addicted to body modification. In response, sparkey49 gave a great summary of the different reasons why men modify their genitals. The part that jumped out at me read:
"- Some people are dealing with an 'aesthetic dysmorphia' where they are interested in creating something that looks a specific way or maybe something that looks unusual/shocking -- such a person may indeed just keep going with other amputations and such (I would say Adam Curlykale is in this category as not only was he interested in nullification, but wants ribs removed, tattooed his eyes, bleached his beard, and so forth). If you're already really into tattoos and piercings and also interested in nullification then you might be this type."
I'd never thought of classing genital modification as a "body mod" in the same way that one classifies piercings and tattoos as body mods. While some people want castration or penectomy because they're experiencing gender or body dysphoria, how many of us are motivated by the same urge that drives other people to get their septums pierced? Obviously, getting castrated is a much bigger and more life altering commitment. But the idea that the underlying mechanism for some of us is the same as the underlying mechanism for a person who's into piercing actually resolves some things for me. Specifically, I was never able to fully articulate *why* I needed to be castrated...I just did. I thought of myself as genderqueer for a while, but I've since circled back around to identifying as male. I never really wanted to be not-male...I wanted to be a male without balls.
That brings me to the present. Over the past couple years, I've been perplexed by my recurring desire to go nullo. I don't hate my penis. I have no issue with using it to get off. Sometimes I even top! So why would I want to have it removed? Honestly--the look really, really resonates with me, and the thought of being smooth down below just feels amazingly RIGHT. These were, honestly, the same motivations I had for castration, but I was afraid that if I wanted to be a eunuch solely because of aesthetics, that wouldn't be a good enough reason. I chose to dress it up in gender dysphoria to make myself feel better about my decision. This is not to say that some eunuchs aren't doing it out of gender dysphoria. Just not me. Now I realize that as long as I'm informed and prepared to deal with the consequences, there's really no "bad reason" to get modded. And if I go nullo and then decide to get subdermal beads or something, that's cool too. Life's an adventure and so are our bodies.

Re: Body mods and motivations
The best reasoning I ve been able to come up with for men who love being men and having sex as men, and love having their male body and sexual organs and YET get the urges to modify or destroy their sex organs, is just unexplained inner urges. Some men see a mountain and feel a desire to climb it. Others see an ocean and want to cross it. Who knows why, they just have those urges in different degrees.

I have never been able to articulate why I feel I need to make modifications to my genitals. Your post helps express what I feel. I too don't hate my penis or using it and fi
being right. From the first time that I learned about sex change surgery I felt it would be right for me. I find the thought of being nullo very fascinating too! I agree with you if someone is well informed and total prepared to live with the consequences the reason to get modded shouldn't be a limiting factor. Life evolves, why can't we evolve our own bodys...

I completely agree with Nidaho Rachel. I lost my testicles 3 years ago at 23, it was a difficult experience and it took me over a year to adjust to my new sexual status as a eunuch. Once I got past that stage I began to enjoy a new and exciting life and soon reached the point where I preferred not having balls. Not long after this I had the empty scrotum removed. I really liked my new look and felt perfectly comfortable about having nothing underneath my penis. Now after 5 months on estrogen and a feminized eunuch I often think about nullification. My tgirl friend mentioned the subject earlier this year and I found it fascinating and tried to imagine how it would be. I find the idea of being completely smooth downstairs very appealing. I don't hate my penis and although half the size it used to be can still get pleasure from it..... however my feeling is that like my balls, once gone I will prefer the new look and the new feel. I've got no plans to rush into it but have had evaluations and could get the clean sweep by next January. My option I like is a penectomy and a urethral re-route so that the appearance from the front would be completely smooth. Justine x

Not only does the reroute make for a more pleasing appearance it also make it so much easier to make water without making a mess.

Re: Body mods and motivations
The nullos I've talked to say that YMMV when it comes to orgasming. Seems like most eventually figure out a way that works for them consistently. Anybody want to weigh in on that?

Of the many nullos I know of, only one says he cannot have orgasms. He doesn't seem to care much about it... says he misses it sometimes, but overall is happier without his penis.

Re: Body mods and motivations
May I ask which areas are suitable for stimulation to achieve an orgasm when being a nullo?

Re: Body mods and motivations
While we're discussing nullification, I have a question of my own: is the area of the reroute sensitive to pain? Like when horse riding etc? It's nice to never have to worry about things hitting down there with my empty scrotum as a buffer, and I'm wondering if nullification would be of detriment to that.
