Approaching week eight in recovering from the removal of my scrotum and a change in tactics has been beneficial.
Instead of continuing with the bandaging we decided to try and leave things open so air can circulate and sweating diminish. Now walking around the house naked was nice, save for the threat of offending a neighbor as I walked by an open window. Also, I didn't think sitting with an exposed open wound down there was a good idea either.
So my creative wife made me a skirt out of an old tee shirt. Problems solved and now healing has really improved over the past week. Now I'm not ready to go out in public just yet sporting my new attire, but thinking of reconnecting with my Scottish roots and buying a kilt. It sure is comfortable leaving myself open down there.
Check out my blog to see me sporting my fashionable blog as well as progress. eunuchlife.blogspot.com
If anyone is carrying around an empty sack and considering going "smooth", I can definitely recommend it despite my setbacks. Although some swelling is still present, for me it looks and feels great.

I’m considering getting my empty scrotum trimmed, but if the sutures opened before I had healed, I would have had them resown nor reglued.

I
As soon as it opened I consulted the surgeon and she said to leave it. Restitching would have required further tightening of an already taught area, which she did not want to do.
The trick is to just be extra careful and not overdo things for the first couple of weeks. Three or four just to be sure. Obviously, I was not and did not and paid the price for my impatience.
However, I'm assured the scaring will not be much greater once it's fully healed.

Re: The ex scrotum continues to heal
I guess I was lucky having mine removed at age 70. Being retired meant I did not have to do more tan mow the lawn. I did stop wearing underwear so there was plenty of airflow. I would leave my pants unzipped while riding the mower. We lived in the country about 6 miles from town so had no problem with worrying about exposure. I healed in about 2 weeks.
