So i need a few advise before i start...

Post by derryderry (imported) »

Hello, in a week i will start my chemical castration process. Im a 26 years old male.

I will start taking 2X50 mg Androcur.

I will also take 60 mg raloxifene (evista) to prevent gynecomastia.

What do you think i should do more? Or do you have anything else to remind me?

hey @derryderry ,

First welcome. There is a "Read this First" in this forum. If you haven't read it yet, it's full of good information.

The other thing I'd say is remember to get your checkups and physicals from the doctor. Liver, kidney, red blood cells, T levels, etc. Even if the doctor isn't prescribing the Androcur and raloxifene, tell the doctor how much you are taking. Of course doctors judge, they're people. But, they've also seen much stranger things than self chemical castration.

TopManFL's advice is right on.

I'm glad to hear of another guy doing a chemical trial. I found that, after a couple of months on Androcur, that all of my sexual fantasies had disappeared and my thought process was as clear as I can remember. I realized then that thoughts about novel sex, including gay sex and body modification even including surgical castration were mostly or completely labile fantasies. The only thing that remained was that I really liked having essentially no testosterone. I felt like a new person, one I liked a lot better than before. I went off Androcur for a month or so and the fantasies began to reemerge. That felt so horrible that I went back on Androcur as soon as I could get to it. After several months I've been able to drop down to 25mg/day.

Your experience will almost certainly be different. Some men still have sexual urges with no-T. But don't ignore possible negative health effects.

No, I've actually lost weight. I just don't seem to want to eat as much as before.

Hi derryderry,

Totally agree with TopManFL, try and get blood tests done if you can. It’s also nice to know what your testosterone level is so you have an idea how well the meds are working.

I’ve been taking androcur and tamoxifen for over six months now, and my GP hasn’t had any problems with me having regular blood tests. Also it’s now all over my medical records what I’m taking, so if there is a problem hopefully the doctors won’t be scratching their heads for too long trying to work out what it is… (Assuming I’m not in a position to tell them!) A few close friends know what I’m taking and where I keep the pills just in case a doctor needed a sample (fake medication is a small risk, but you could be unlucky).

You’re unlikely to have a problem, but I think that it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Before I started my GP did of course have to advise me not to self medicate - but she’s not had an issue with me ignoring that advice!

I also take multi vitamins with iron, and calcium pills every day.

Wishing you all the best and I hope that it works out for you - I’ve never been happier!

How long does it take to get rid of your libido completely on androcur (100mg daily)?

If it does disappear completely in your case (It doesn't in some), then 3-4 weeks seems common.

Using 100 mg Androcur my estimate is 2-4 weeks. It is gradual. In my case I noticed it after 2 weeks.

My libido was pretty much gone after about three weeks of taking 50mg androcur a day.
