Advice please - referred for ultrasound scan

Post by The_Skin_Mechanic (imported) »

** ADMIN - I was unsure whether to post this in the surgical or chemical forum, please move if necessary **

I have been doing alcohol injections for a couple of years and am now at the point where both testicles are hard and lumpy and it is very difficult to get a needle into them now, and when I do manage to, I'm not able to inject any more alcohol into them, so yesterday I went to see my GP and he was obviously very concerned and has put in a request for an ultrasound scan to be done on them (I'm in the UK, so any treatment will be done on the NHS free of charge)

Can anybody who has been through this stage before me please offer some advice - will they be able to tell from the ultrasound that I have been injecting my testicles? (I've left it several months since I last had a needle in there before going to see the GP as I was worried that the needles would leave some sort of trace of where they'd been that would show up on the ultrasound scan)

Assuming that I have in fact damaged my testicles as much as I hope and think I have, I'm expecting to be referred to a urologist after the scan. If I am lucky enough to be able to get them removed, what are valid reasons that I can give to push for a scrotal sack removal at the same time? (Getting ahead of myself there I know, but fingers crossed it plays out how I'm hoping it will)

I'm guessing they're not going to know you did this. What they are going to see is a set of infarcted testicles, and since they are lumpy, etc., they're likely going to want to yank 'em out for fear of cancer. Should they do that, I'm guessing you won't see them ever again, as they'll be sent off for biopsy.

As for getting your sac off at the same time... I suppose you could ask. I wouldn't be too optimistic based on what I've heard about the British NHS, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Good luck.

I ve had lots of ultrasounds on my injured balls. The techs doing it will turn their computer screen to let me see my balls as they scan me. I m not trained to know what I m looking at. But I doubt they would see big long scars going into your balls unless you used a big whooping thick needle doing a lot of damage going in to your balls.

But if enough men start injecting stuff into their balls to kill them, drs will compare notes and write in medical journals and start figuring out what is going on. Then they will come up with ways to test for damage from injections. Then the insurance companies will start demanding those tests on any damaged balls. Insurance companies deny any payment for self inflicted harm or problems. They also deny any claims for other medical problems caused by or associated with any self inflicted damage.

Its only a matter of time before drs, techs, lab pathology staff that examine the removed balls in detail, and insurance companies figure out what is going on and stop paying for it as some unknown mystery cauing healthy balls to die for no reason.

The technicians are trained to only look for tumors from what I have experienced.

They usually forward the images to a consultant urologist who may or may not be in attendance.

In my case they made another appointment for a physical exam 3 months later.

It is unlikely they will see scars left by the needles providing a reasonable amount of time has passed since you last did it.

The question is not IF they will be able to tell this is the reason for your hard testicles but, rather, why on earth would you not tell them the truth?

Option One: Tell them you injected alcohol into your testicles as a form of BDSM play. They remove them via the scrotum. Pretty easy.

Option Two: Don't tell them anything. After the ultrasound they will assume you have testicular cancer (or at least the chances are that you have testicular cancer). They will insist on removing your testicles, seminal vessels, spermatic chords and a few lymph nodes via an inguinal orchiectomy. There are two inguinal canals - one on each side of the lower abdomen. To be safe, they will run tumor markers when they draw blood. As well, they will most likely do a preoperative (or shortly post operative) CT scan (the equivalent of 200 chest x-rays). If needed, a CT scan is safe - but why receive needless radiation?

I doubt that the number of incidents of self-inflicted damages to testicles will be large enough to make any connection between the damage seen on ultrasounds and the cause of damage. It is not like guys are lined up waiting for the doors of an ultrasound clinic, like lines to buy things on black Fridays.
