I live in san Diego so LA or Palm springs works for me. Of course San Diefgo is a great turist meca.

Not to mention Hillcrest is allways a fun gay "getaway".

The idea of regional meetings as a suggestion here sounded as though it might be useful. MgxPgh, your original posting and all the replies to date imply that this site is read only by US citizens.

I really get ~issed off by this assumption, you guys don't realise that the internet is Global and not something insular.

Such a suggestion has merit and maybe Gay guys in Oz and NZ

and Europe might like to mull over the idea also.

I am pretty certain that trying to organise an event in the UK would fall foul of some law but Guyz in America open your minds and think before you post; unthoughtful postings can re-inforce ideas the rest of the planet has about the insular nature you

unwittingly hold.

My observation applies not just to this thread but to many

threads which are totally US dominated in observation or suggestion. You may have a big, rich country but it is just

one of many hundreds.

I don't believe any attempt at aggravation was being made here. The thread starter was a US citizen, and until your reply, Sac-mec, all of the respondents were US citizens. You happened to be the first UK citizen to reply.

Naturally, a board member from, say, Australia, isn't going to suggest a meeting in Denver, Colorado-US, or Paris, France.

The United States guarantees the security of YOUR country, as well as France and the rest of western Europe. As much as you might wish it to be so, in the event of an invading hostile force the UK is not going to put up much of a resistance.

Plus, the US is a large, right country who has already pulled the UKs bacon out of the fire in WW II.

Get rid of the rich Queen, get rid of the socialist liberal political agenda, lower the tax rate to something bearable so that people are actually REWARDED for working harder instead of being punished and I am sure the UKs economy will flourish. Freedom, including economic freedom, is a good thing.

Wealth is a good thing. The US has been a leader in innovation for years because we value freedom and reward those who create marketable products.

I am not ashamed to be a US citizen. I am proud of it. If you are happy to reside in the UK, then wonderful. Sing its praises, but don't portray the US as some arrogant bully nation. We are a world leader because we have worked hard to become so, and the citizens of the US have worked and sacrificed to make it so.

All nations are not equal. They are not equally good, productive, generous, or appreciative.

If you want to have a regional UK meeting ... be my guest. In the meantime we here in the US have just as much a right and need to use these forums for our purposes and we will do so.

Thanks guys for coming to my defense (defence for you in the UK), but I'm not offended. Gosh, I don't have the info to suggest meetings in Twickenham or Dusseldorf or Alice Springs; I'm just suggesting stuff here in the US that I'm familiar with. Besides, Mr. Offended British Citizen, there are A LOT of brits who visit Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Springs.

If ya want to have a meeting in the UK, pick a spot and go for it. I'll be in Cambridge in May. If you're anywhere near there, you can buy me a pint.

So, I was the first non US cit. to follow the thread thru (through) but my point has been made by the ferocity of the attacks in return. I'd like us all to be friends! Some guys veins run thick on testosterone and it explains "red neck" reactions.

You are definitely not the only non-US person to follow this thread, so don't give yourself airs.

Yes, there are times that respondents get more than a little insular. But, remember that this is board is owned and run by Americans. - we are guests and should behave as such.

I agree it is sometimes hard to take, especially when someone starts the 'we have saved you' line. But they actually believe it and in some ways it is true. What they forget is that we paid, and paid handsomely, for all of the help we've had and have still been screwed by them at every opportunity.

But unfortunately for us our days as the Global power are gone, we need a friend and there are a lot worse alternatives. So next time a thread like this gets to you just take a little walk and cool off.

Yes, it's an American-owned board maintained by Americans and run by software that was bought and installed by Americans, BUT with contributions from all over the f*cking world and exists for the benefit of EVERYONE.

I don't see anything prior to Sac-mec's post that was racist, national, or demeaning in any way, shape or form, and yet a word-war breaks out over it. It was simply fellow EA users trying to come up with good locations that are close to them, or are familiar to them.

This is much like the gang of friends I have in the Twin Cities area calling me up, to come up and pick up all of the Archive regulars en-route between Indiana and there so that we can all get together to fly to Rio in South America to hold a Eunuch Archive Expo. What's the point in THAT?!

Yes, political tensions are high right now and our world leaders are all at odds with one another.
