Netflix Turds - Inspired by Dave

Post by Paolo »

So I wasted $25 on a Netflix card, just to see what all the rage was about "Stranger Things."

OK, having raised boys, I can appreciate that aspect of the show. I guess. It's 80's themed. I liked that. This one teen had an old SLR Pentax camera. I really liked that.

Then came the plot holes, not to mention the plot itself. Then Will turned out to be not only immortal, but indestructible. He was even able to survive for 10,000 years (or so it felt) in that alternate dimension where the special ops guys had to wear space suits.

As for the enemy, or whatever it was, I didn't understand "his" motives. I didn't understand "him" at all.

Then there was Eleven, or whatever the hell she was supposed to be. A psychic girl with a buzz cut. Cool...

But was she linked to that demon thing, or what? I mean, that monster that couldn't find Will, but seemed to be able to kill just about everyone else?

Overall, I think I should have spent the money on something more entertaining. Like a small sex toy.

This series made no sense, was boring, dragged on and on, and was so poorly written that I have been more entertained by EA fiction. Not to say that our fiction is bad!

Anyone else, feel free to chime in.

I've still got some time left to explore all the abominations on Netflix, so I'll let you know what other turkeys I find.

I actually liked it. 🤷

Not well written, but it's better than the regular BS out there lately.

I am seriously glad that you did.

What you have to keep in mind, though, is that I don't like much of anything that I see.

I thought "Infinity War" sucked, too.

And now there's this blasphemy being advertised:

https://www.digitaltrends.com/movies/ti ... news-cast/

Teen Titans with Robin fucking saying "fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck" like he's Eric Cartman or something?

And Raven with this X-Files black goo thing going on, and her "Oh, you're the boy from the circus."

But it's nothing compared to 70's acid-trip Starfire.

I don't understand. Why not sign up for $11.99 and then you could quit as opposed to getting a card?

I won't get Netflix because I'm cheap.

My cable bill for TV, Modem, and phone, is outrageous. I get over 200 HD stations. When the cable first came around, it had a year free of HBO and I kept HBO. When STARZ ran the SPARTACUS series I bought STARZ. I won't buy any other pay channel.

This week EPIX suddenly appeared and it has a week free. I looked at tall the shows and movies and decided it wasn't worth the extra money per month.

Netflix is the same way -- when the cable company had a free weekend of Netflix, I checked to out and decided against getting it for more money a month. Right now, RAGNAROK is on Netflix and one day, I'll rent RAGNAROK for 48 hours and that will be a one-time charge.

AMC has a "premiere" service for a few bucks a month. I don't need to spend more.

FX+ is another I don't have got spend money on.

ACORN (I don't know what it is even)

The ANIME network, CURIOSITY stream, Disney Family Movies, DOG TV, EROS Now, Crackle

I do however, look forward to hearing about the Netflix series.

Dave, while using your Netflix card, look up The Twilight Zone season 3 episode 13 with Buster Keaton. It's hilarious.

I take it you like Pentax film cameras? I've got about 20 of them including a 1957 AP.

We were paying $80/month for about 60 channels. I got an off air antennae for two programs I like and am on daughter

s Netflix account. I am happy after, in my opinion, way overpaying for cable. I can remember when cable had no advertising because you paid the monthly subscription fee. Now there were times that I got disgusted and turned off tv when the string of commercials never seemed to end.

"This Is How It Ends", movie, 2018

Forest Whitaker must have been desperate for a role, is all I can say.

This turkey of a disaster film is sort of like "Mad Max" meets some kind of modern American apocalypse.

Some kind of disaster hits the west coast. We don't know what. We never find out. The power grid is out, that's all we know. Was it a volcano? An undersea nuke set off by Russia or someone else? Who knows? There are hints that it was a volcano. Hints that it was a Carrington Event. Further hints that it was a tsunami/earthquake combo on the Juan de Fuca fault. Again, we never find out.

So, wimpy white guy and ex-Marine kick-ass black guy head west across a powerless, chaotic USA in a new Cadillac. And boy, can that car take the hits and still survive! The goal is go from at least Minnesota to the west coast, finding gas and food along the way, as everyone tries to kill each other. The acting alone is enough to kill viewers, I think.

My recommendation: Don't bother. Slow, boring, lacking on special effects, and yet another one of those "Humanity got what it deserved" themes.

By using the built-in VPN in Opera browser, I found "Star Trek: Discovery" on NetFlix, not available in the USA. The glory of a VPN set for "Europe".

I have no words for how bad, and how out-of-continuity this travesty of an attempt at "Star Trek" is. I literally want to vomit.

It must have let you in because you were using a Netflix card as opposed to having a US set Netflix account. I've not been able to back-door into finding that Star Trek series using my VPN. *shrugs*
