Bodybuilding for eunuchs
I've always been keen on the gym and heavy duty weight training in particular. About 9 months ago I was well into a new training regime when I contracted mumps. I developed orchitis, had to endure the atrophication of my testicles and then having a castration. I've been struggling with T replacement ever since, not sure about the T levels, the dose or if I even respond to artificial T. I have soft and not very convincing erections which makes sex difficult. Fortunately my partner is very supportive and imaginative. On the plus side I haven't had hot flushes, weakness, loss of initiative etc.
This week I decided it was time to get back to the gym and start training again. I estimate I have lost 20 - 30 pc in raw strength and about 50pc in endurance. My intention is to try to recover my previous strength and fitness levels and hopefully help my erections.
I'd be very interested to hear from any eunuchs who are into bodybuilding, weight training etc and how their training went after their castration. I'm 24 and a eunuch since Nov 2017.

Wasn't into weight training or body building but the rigors of blue water sailing on the high seas month after month on end was probably fairly similar on many levels. It was that noticeable loss of strength and endurance (similar to your %) that caused me to use hormone therapy. I didn't choose to go with "T" but regardless, hormone therapy regained a lot of the strength and endurance that had been lost after castration. I didn't have a gym to use out on the water but raising and lowering sails, anchors etc constantly was demanding. You may well need to look at a hormone therapy along with returning to the gym.

Re: Bodybuilding for eunuchs
About a year into my castration, I started MMA training that lasted for two years, until injuries forced me to quit for something less intensive. I lost 50+ pounds in the first six months. Despite my age, was was able to keep up with my much younger regular gym members. One fellow gymmate would always joke that I was on juice. Since then, my weight has gone down even more because of the loss of muscle mass since quitting. Even my girlfriend has noticed the difference since when I first met her. She use to refer to me as her hunk. Now Im only sexy.

Downgrades are a bitch.
Jokes aside, congratulations on the changes. I am right at your age, so I know they are even tougher.

Hey @Rafaella,
First, sorry to hear about the mumps. There is a vaccine for mumps and every parent should make sure their children are inoculated.
Two things come to mind after reading your post. If you weren't vaccinated against mumps, then it's possible you missed other vaccines. If it's possible to get your vaccine records, then talking to your doctor about a schedule for getting vaccinated would be a good idea (change that a great idea). Mumps, measles, rubella, chicken pox, shingles, Hep A, Hep B, HPV, meningitis, tenuous and don't forget that annual flu shot, all have vaccines which can prevent future mishaps as bad or worse than the one you had with mumps.
My 2nd thought is to find your hormonal numbers. You didn't say who is treating you for the loss of testosterone - a family doctor, internal medicine, surgeon or endocrinologist. I'd say find a "good endocrinologist", but just finding one at all can be difficult. They are a rare breed for some reason.
No matter who is treating you for HRT, they should be doing blood lab draws fairly often (every 3 to six months) and you should know the numbers. Even if the numbers are straight down the middle, it doesn't mean the dose is correct.
You also didn't say if your HRT is an injection or a rub on gel (like androgel). Some men just dont respond well to the rub on gels and require the shots. The normal course of events for injections is once every two weeks. Some men hate the high and low periods this brings. So, it is possible to do the shots once a week - they just cut the dose in half. If you are doing the injections at home yourself, this adds only the cost of one syringe. But (no pun), if you are having the doctor's nurse do the injection it could double the cost of the treatment.
Hope that helped.

I prefer the shots for three reasons: 1. I am able to attain a much higher T level than the gel provided; 2. Its more realiable and easier to use in that I only get a shot a week versus having to remember to rub it on every day; 3. Its much cheaper, by thousands of dollars, even with insurance. My girlfriend gives me the shots, which even lowers the cost too by not having to hire a nurse to inject it, not that I wouldnt self-inject.

Re: Bodybuilding for eunuchs
I really can't see that there would be too much of a problem providing you are on TRT.
Even after 6 months away from testosterone I can manage a 5 mile run and still do the weights fine although I have lost about 5% of what I used to do.
My current testosterone level is about 1/10 of the recommended minimum for someone my age.
I think a lot of it is simply down to self motivation and you simply have to push yourself even when you feel a bit run down.
From your post it sounds like you need to see a consultant to find out what's happening with your TRT you need to have a hormone specific blood test done.
I would go for the jabs as creams seem a bit messy and once you have mastered the art its no problem self injecting.

Re: Bodybuilding for eunuchs
This subject, fitness, is dear to me. I want to believe that eunuchs get the fantasy wrap of your cut so you cannot perform. And where I accept some reduction from an intact male, I seriously question how much. First most men are no where near their potential, most never work out. So a really in shape eunuch May well be in better shape than a average male. Through all our social conditioning we are told eunuch equals week. Just like women are week. Get my point. I wish there was an actual study. Frankly I would volunteer for one if it was scientific. I expect to loose some, but I have no real base on how much that some is for someone that works out regularly and hard now.

You hit the nail with one sharp blow. "most men never work out" And I have observed that to be true for decades or even generations. Now why exactly is that. Could it be perhaps that most men are physically active in everyday work activities to bring home the bacon? After which too worn out to bother? Where-as most women don't do physical fatiguing work. But we could also say that in this era most men are over-weight as women fall into that category.
And yet as I age I find myself active enough in life that I don't find the time to "go work out" Even as I recognize that doing so would benefit my physical health. I'm not sure if being intact or not has anything to do with it. More of a mind set of the individual. We all have what we consider priorities in life and to most "working out" is not one of them.
