Newbie with questions.

Post by Lickinem (imported) »

Hi

I've been doing a ton of reading on how to reduce my sex drive and came across the idea of castration, both chemical and physical. I must admit that the idea is intriguing. Seems like sex and I haven't gotten along very well. I'm 65 and it's been a pita my whole life since puberty. I’ve been married for 44 years to the same woman and I’ve not had the sex life that I wished for. Nothing against her, but she just doesn’t have that sex drive like I do. And at my age the desire is still there and I’m getting tired of it.

In reading about personal stories on here, it defiantly sounds like something I want to try. I would like to try chemical first to get rid of the testosterone “drive”. And then later adding a little bit of female hormones. A trial per se, then if I like it, and before the tits start growing, go for a full physical castration. I don’t really want to fully transition into being female. I want to keep the penis.

Been talking to the wife about it, and I’m very surprised that she is sort of ok with it all.

So, I’ve got questions. Do I post here or would it be better to post in another forum heading? Like “Chemical Castration & Hormones”?

And I’ve not been able to find posts about how to get this all started. Do I find a doctor first? Or a therapist? I live north of Seattle by about 40 miles, there isn’t any transsexual doctors or therapists around locally that I’ve been able to find yet.

Any why don't I see any old posts?

I´m a transexual women , my libido is unestable my testosterone is in castration levels but since I´m on oestrogens I couldn´tt tell you in detail. Testosterone is not the only hormone involved in sex-drive. My injection of oestrogen and progesterone rise my libido and even with only oestrogens my libido increases.

Hi Lickinem!

We may be from different generations, but are both starting along a similar path. From what I understand, the testosterone-blocking medications (Androcur, Procur, I'm sure there are others) are non-prescription if you order from out of the country, but if you can get your medical insurance to cover it then that's all the better. Try convincing your GP that you're really afraid of prostate cancer - something I unfortunately can't do until I'm 35 when they start testing for that in my state. I can make no promises, but maybe he'll prescribe it for you. I would suggest getting a blood test done to check your current testosterone levels, as well as a bone density test before starting. Osteoporosis is the biggest potential side effect of having low/no sex hormones, and you want to be able to go back after a year of being on your T-blocker with calcium and vitamin D supplements and check to see if you've lost significant bone density.

I'm in exactly the same boat, currently waiting on my appointment with my GP to get some tests set up and start the ball rolling for my chemical "trial." As far as physical castration goes, there are a few physicians who will do it with informed consent - ie, you chat with him, he tells you about possible side effects, you sign the papers, you get the procedure. Most, however, require either medical necessity (prostate or testicular cancer for example) or a letter from a psychiatrist than you have diagnosed gender dysphoria. I happen to consider the practice of denying such a procedure to a man who's decided that's what he wants for his body just because he doesn't "need" it to be inhumane, but I digress. Information on doctors who will perform your double orchiectomy on informed consent is to be found in several places on the forum here, check around for one nearby.

Best of luck to you on your journey! :)
