Implausible castration scenes in movies

Post by seanthomas (imported) »

I recently saw the movie "Ferocious People" and found Donald Sutherland's description of his "prostate the size of a grapefruit" (What, you didn't notice you haven't been able to pee in months?)and his wife authorizing his bilateral orchiectomy (What, no consideration of the chemical choice?) while he was unconscious a real stretch. You'd think Hollywood would at least do a little research......

Even cartoons can't get it right. I haven't turned into some androgynous geek like portrayed in "Family Guy", nor has my accent been affected.

In fairness to "Fierce People," the words from that youtube clip was "the size of a baseball," and I imagine anyone with an enlarged prostate does notice the difficulty in urination, and many are in denial about it. I have not seen the whole movie, just the clip you linked to. As for "Family Guy," they are trying to be funny, and it really is not that funny, but I suppose they were going for something completely absurd to get a laugh.... it did not get a laugh from me, I just shook my head in disagreement and disappointment at how far off target they were. The only thing funny in the whole "Family Guy" clip were the two docs looking at the x-ray "so, the baby died? Yeah the baby died but look! First Place!"
