Has anyone considered the advantages a society of eunuchs would have? It seems to me a clear next step in evolution. We evolved from animals with specific roles. Giraffes to hunt high, sharks to hunt the sea, and so on. But our brains allowed us to do anything. Now the last role is that of gender. Society is vastly more complicated because of separate sexes.

In the end the resolution won't come down to debate, but survival. Sexual drive and the need to protect women is a major disadvantage in war. And numbers are less of an issue with technology.

This sounds like something out of a Star Trek episode with the Borg. Believable? Of course it is. Researchers love to play.
In addition, if combined with cloning technology, artificial wombs raise the prospect that gay couples could give 'birth' to their own children. 'This would no doubt horrify right-wingers, while the implications for abortion law might well please them,' he added.
Horrify them? I think more along the lines of collective apoplexy and massive strokes!
Add this one to the gay agenda - we're going to go home and fire up the artificial wombs and breed a whole herd of cute little queers to turn loose on the public school system so that they can, in turn, turn all those otherwise straight little boys into evil little homosexual monsters.
Hell's gonna get awful crowded fast, now.

All joking aside, though, I see no point to this research.
There are more children already in this world, of all ages, that have already been born and have no one to care for them, than you can imagine. Anyone so vain and self-centered as to HAVE TO HAVE something like this technology, to have THEIR OWN child, that don't have the love or personality to be able to extend it to an unfortunate child that is not of their own DNA, doesn't deserve to have ANY child at all.
Money and research wasted like this is sickening.
The only thing that it IS good for is annoying the extreme Right-wingers, as they mention.
