Not foolish at all. That s the whole point of doing that process, to grow new body parts using that person s own DNA.

This may be possible in the future but is not possible now. The way they create a new ear is by building a "scaffold" of the new ear in the shape of an ear, and then grow skin cells over it. This would be more difficult to accomplish with a penis or testicles. Science is doing wonderful things right now, but has not quite gotten good enough with this technology to create new reproductive organs.

It looks like they hooked up all the nerves and blood supply that he will need to get erections and feel full sensations and pleasures in his new organs after they heal long enough. They transplanted a lot of abdominal tissue to replace what was damaged in the blast injury.

But it looks like his penis should work. If they had also transplanted donor testicles, those spermatic cords would have been separate and run deeper than the abdominal tissue mass that they transplanted. But reattaching the spermatic cords of the donor testicles much farther up in his abdomen might have replaced his own blast damaged spermatic cords by transplanting much longer lengths of donor spermatic cords to tie into the soldier s own cords or body much farther up inside his body.

I read that John Bobbit had to heal for many months for his re attached penis and especially his nerves to heal. But he made at least one porno film after his penis healed up, I think it was called Frankenweiner or something similar. I m guessing due to the scar at the re attachment site.
