Lost in Space 2018 (((SPOILER ALERT)))

I just finished watching season 1 of the new Netflix Lost in Space series. It has a very strong eugenics vibe to it. Earth is pretty much toast and only the best and the brightest qualify to go to Alpha Centauri.

Will Robinson is disqualified in testing but his mom hacks the system to get him a seat on the Jupiter 2. The most powerful characters in the new LIS are all female and Will is a figuratively emasculated boy.

I was thinking the story might have been better if Will had been castrated to get on the flight. Perhaps I could write a story along those lines.

I tried the first couple of episodes...hated it. Didn't care about any of the characters. Not really sure what you mean about Will, other than he was just a little kid as opposed to super-ballsy brainy like the original or Wesley Crusher..

I finally caved in and got a Netflix card so I could watch "Stranger Things," which is all the "TV" rage. I wasn't impressed.

Also watched LIS, wasn't impressed with it either.

I can remember the original series in glorious black and white.

Robbie the robot I believe was based on the one the first appeared in the Forbidden planet back in 1956.

I think Robbie made the series all made out of scrap and vacuum cleaner hoses .

You could get away with some terrible special effects knowing that most of the audience would be watching on a 12-14" screen 405 lines VHF.

Dr Z smith was a devious piece of work back then I hope nothing has changed.

I will give it a go.

Robbie the robot I believe was based on the one the first appeared in the Forbidden planet back in 1956.

I remember when there were TV stores in Malls and bigger TV were coming out, VCR's were just starting to be consumer devices, the movie of choice to put on the display model was FORBIDDEN PLANET because it attracted crowds. The ID MONSTER made several appearances a day because the movie was VCR's on a continuous loop, sort of.

The soundtrack was unique back then.

And yes, Robbie the Robot was a model for future robots.

However, at the WQED store when it was open -- the movie of choice was CATS, endless CATS -- the only salvation was Elaine Page

I watched the first episode of "Black Mirror" and it made me sick. Seems the series is something like "Twilight Zone", non-related episodes. I have no desire to see more of them. I just started watching "Dark", which seems to be a ripoff of "Stranger Things." I wasn't impressed with that one, either.

LIS has a killer alien robot, a chicken named Debby, young teen romance, snakes and lots of stuff blowing up and crashing. How could anyone not like that? Paolo you're too had to please!

Yeah, I know. There's very few things I find that I like. My only hope is more Creek episodes of South Park this fall.

really wasn't into lost in space. couldn't finish it. i was excited for the reboot too.
