Post Orchiectomy Question

Post by PinoyEunuch (imported) »

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new member here. Actually I have been lurking on the forums for a long time, maybe years and just re-registered recently to ask for advice. I was castrated 3 weeks ago (last March 26) by a plastic surgeon and so far I can say that I'm at 80% healed already as of this writing. I did not experience any hematomas or bruising /discoloration during my first week post orchiectomy though the spermatic cords which were cut did swell as expected.

No complications as of yet though I'm a bit concerned about the remaining spermatic cords. 2 days ago I noticed that the cords seemed to have fused to my scrotum and to each other. It feels like the 2 cords stumps have fused to the suture site (I was cut with a midline incision to the scrotum). The cords were not fused when I was cut, during my surgery I felt that each cord was closed separately before releasing each cord back to the scrotum. I'm not feeling any pain whatsoever but I'm concerned that they may have permanently fused. Any guys here who have experienced the same thing? Based on your experience, will the cords unfuse from each other and from the scrotum on its own or should I have it checked by my surgeon?

Thanks in advance for your responses. :)

I had a Radical Orchiectomy in December.

Both cords formed hematomas, followed by abscesses through my scrotum. I was kinda freaked out when one began draining; it looked like bloody cottage cheese in my underpants.

One of the cords had attached to the tunica (the sack within the sack). As the cord shrank, it tried to pull the tunica into the inguinal, which became quite painful.

The problem was corrected with a small puncture through the scrotum to release and re-suture the cord. Everything's resolved and I'm happily no-balls.

You probably should mention it to your surgeon as your cords may want to shrink and cause you pain.

Just so. Tell the doc and even if it looks not right now, you'll be told if it is something that needs attention.

From what I know there are several surgical techniques and one is to join the stumps together, while another is to anchor them, so I'd definitely seek your surgeons opinion if you are overly concerned. However, everyone heals differently and as long as there is no pain or discomfort after just a few weeks I would not worry too much. I can barely feel each of my cord stumps in the top of my scrotum and they are firm with what feels like a harder little bump at the very ends, but do not feel as though they are anchored to anything.

It took a while but can’t even tell where they were anymore when the first was removed it wasn’t anchored to anything the second was stitched to scrotum and was actually less bothersome.

Thanks for your inputs guys. I have scheduled a follow up visit with my surgeon next Thursday. Will let you know of his findings. Hopefully it will resolve on their own or if it will not then I'll just have the stubs trimmed once I have my scrotum reduction surgery. 🙏

Just got back from my follow up consultation and as per doctor, everything is healing really well. Though, he did remove part of the suture that haven't dissolved yet.

Regarding the stumps, he said it's to early to tell if it's fused to the tunica. He mentioned that I have to wait for maybe 5 more months before having the scrotum removal procedure.

Guess, I'll know by 5 months time. ;)

Just to update this thread. I finally had my scrotectomy done last Friday (June 15) by the same doctor. The doctor said I was good to have the procedure done even though my orchiectomy was just barely 3 months ago. I requested the doctor to remove as much of the loose skin as possible well. I'm now at home and resting. I'm heavily bandaged as of now and I'll be able to see the suture site in days once I replace the initial bandage. I hope everything goes well. :)

I expect it will be fine, but mine showed a wonderful rainbow of bruise color first.

We found that packs of frozen peas were a comfort. Someone needs to do a comparison of everything else in the vegetable aisle!

Good luck!

Peas work great, but corn works in a pinch, too
