UK endocrinologist

Post by Friendlyman (imported) »

Good morning!

Yesterday I had an extremely useful meeting with my GP in which we reviewed the psychiatrists report on my obsessive sexual issues; or paraphilias. My GP agrees that I should undergo chemical castration and even went as far as to say that bilateral orchiectomy might be the best solution in the long term to avoid ingesting drugs for the rest of my life.

In the UK there are a number of NHS Gender Identity Clinics but on reading their websites it is clear to my GP and to me that they specifically exclude anything ‘psychosexual’ if it does not involve transitioning to another gender.

My GP is adamant that I need to be placed under the supervision of an endocrinologist to monitor how I react to Cyproterone Acetate (His and the psychiatrists preferred treatment) The problem is that he does not know of any endocrinologists who have experience in this area.

Can I ask if any members here know of an endocrinologist who has such experience? It can be either NHS or by private referral. If you have any hints or tips I’d be very appreciative.

Regards Steve
