Popular Misconception about Balls

Post by madnomadtoo (imported) »

Hope this isn't too far off topic.

I've gleaned from discussions, accounts, memes, etc that most men, at last the young ones, think that semen is produced and stored in their balls. Thus the origin of terms like "busting a nut," or the practice of squeezing the balls during ejaculation to get more semen, like squeezing an orange to get juice. Most seem ignorant of the anatomical fact that only 5% or less of their semen comes from the balls. Even this does not come directly from the balls, but rather the epididymis, the tubules where the sperm mature. The prostate produces about 25%, the cloudy white portion, with the bulk of semen, around 70%, produced and stored in two glands connected to the prostate, the seminal vesicles. So-called "blue balls" are not due to congested semen.

The obvious conclusion for us is that a healthy male, castrated with immediate T therapy, should notice no difference in his ejaculate. Most of us probably don't fit in this slot, having reduced T levels prior to the cut.

It just bothers me that so many seem ignorant of their own anatomy. How many think the heart is all in the left side of the chest? My parents refused to get me glasses because I would become "dependent" on them, and my eyes would get "weaker." My late mother would complain that her kidneys hurt while putting her hand over her bladder. Unoxygenated blood is not blue -- it's just not as bright red. And, for God's sake, the penis is not a muscle!

Is it the education system? Is it peer-group "science?" Is it aliens?

I know how you feel about the total lack of knowledge about anatomy that I see by those I talk to and even here at times by people and am not sure where it all stems from! I have stated here on discussions numerous times to people before doing anything study some anatomy because it is obvious they don’t have a clue about how it all works! Good thread starter!

I think some of the anatomy mistakes are just simplified wishful thinking. Plus, most males don t discuss anatomy in detail with each other growing up. A few vague health classes that never deal with castration and that s about all most men get without learning more from reading on their own.

And some guys wish their anatomy was how they d want it, like a muscle for a dick, instead of spongy erection chambers and piss tubes lol ! Sex fantasy doesn t want to be bogged down by facts. That s part of this, even when guys do know their anatomy.

You make a good point. Perhaps young people find more reassurance in believing what's "easy." Most learn only what they need to know at the moment, and anything further seems too complicated. I recall a question asked somewhere about whether a man could still ejaculate after a vasectomy. A little knowledge would have made that query unnecessary but perhaps removed some of the wonder of it all.

I read once, many years ago, something that impressed me: A moment spent understanding is worth a lifetime spent in awe. It's not surprising, I guess, that some will always prefer the awe.

I think its mainly from what little most men learn. That is because no one teaches males the details or anything beyond whatever the agenda is that s being pushed on males. Sex education is mainly a brief how to make babies course with no real sexual technique or talent being taught or discussed at all. Just a little on STDs and the barest info on male birth control.

Men are left out of pre natal care. Men are told vasectomies are nothing, don t worry about the details, just get cut. Then its age related sexual problems and drs just say use viagra, you re just old, you don t need sex at your age, and no more than that. Then its prostate problems and drs push for automatic chemical or surgical castration and falsely saying those men are too old for sex anyway. Then no care as eunuchs after unmanning them.

Men are only taught propaganda, not any detailed knowledge of their own body and sex organs. Most drs are fearful and uncomfortable answering any sex questions and don t really know much about sex itself or any male sex functions in detail if not procedure related.

No wonder most men don t know much about their sex organs. They are intentionally kept ignorant and supressed as if sex and male sex activity is bad outside of breeding kids. Recreational sex is still viewed as taboo and not to be discussed by medical or education people. Most men don t even discuss details of sexual techniques and compare how their adult bodies perform sexually. Too many males think its gay to discuss sex with any other males ! As if str8 men can only talk about sex with female sex partners and no one else.
