I haven't been able to enter the Fiction Archive, since late Nov (2017)

So don't know what's going on there. The were a few comments to the same last week in the Lobby

Hi Bella, Thanks you for posting the new stories and looking after things in this regard. I have been an avid follower and reader of the archive since its inception. My online name tjstill is because when the achieve suffered an early melt down we all had to get relisted with new user names. I had been TJ before that so it seemed clear I was tjstill. I didn't come here to moan, or bore you with my stories or to say what needs to be done around here. It would be grossly unfair to utter a word of criticism towards people that give their time and effort freely. I just though perhaps my perspective may help a little as it is the perspective of a regular user who visits most days and put on the odd message and gets involved in the odd debate too. So whatever you do please take NONE of this as any criticism and take it purely as my experience. Please also bear in mind I am not that young and so sometimes do not adapt to changes as well as I would wish.

I noticed you were somewhat disappointed with the slow contributions to the archive. Maybe I can give you my perspective and you can judge for yourself any implications.

In the old days the archive contribution method and means were very much to the forefront of the home page or there was a link to it from most pages you would land on as a visitor to a main page.

It was very clear where new stories were able to be accessed and where they were stored and the file system in use.

It was clear when new contributions were ready for reading and it was clearly linked to the front page.

My experience has been that the contribution means and method is a little less clearly discernible, I am not very clear on "formatting text" and I am not sure on the abilities of many of the other potential contributors. I have seen various threads on correct formatting and threads from frustrated moderators (who have my upmost sympathy as well as my commendations and admiration for what they do) but they do scare me away form the idea of even contemplating putting pen to paper so to speak.

I am sure I may have missed it but the home page doesn't seem to have the links it used to have in relation to seeing when new stories are posted. I recall there was a simple link on the home page saying "new stories" and they were just a click away and it was clear if a new story was up or not. I appreciate this information then moved to the Blog page but now the new story information seems to be in the forum under the story comments section. I only just recently found this out and had to go and read December and January contributions. I am sure there was some notification on the home page that I missed but others could have easily missed it too. My "favourites" link brings me to http://forums.eunuch.org/content.php maybe there is a better more encompassing page I should link too?

I do click from this page to visit the refurbished archive and log in to read some old favourites. I am not sure if the new stories are being added in to here and I cannot find any clarification on what is actually going on. I have used the "way back" machine in the past to view old stories too. Please don't get me wrong I understand clearly the monumental task involved in the rebuilding of the archive after attacks by hackers and I really appreciate what is being done. Perhaps from the inside it looks quite clear where things are, what is going on and progress being made but as only an keen reader and outsider I am a little unclear about things ... could be my age again.

I have always made a point to mail authors and to thank them for their work, but authors like to see their work being read and easy to access. It may be that a FAQ on the archive stories "status" and a little more front page focus on the links to new stories would clarify some questions for readers and potential authors alike and perhaps inspire more contributions. Maybe put the submission info on the front page or in multiple places so people are very fully aware of it... I can only see it in this one thread of the forum. In closing I would like to personally thank you once again for taking up the reigns on this onerous task and helping to keep this wonderful treasure trove of stories updated and refreshed. I truly doff my cap to all the mods and workers here, and hope that my comment are taken purely as constructive. I do fear that my opinions may be a product of my own poor computer understanding and I will be shown to be just a fool linking in to the wrong page and so getting lost in a maze of my own production but my best hope is I may just plant a seed for consideration. Very best wishes, TJstill

Thank you for the hard work but the author of my story titled "

" is wrongly put as anonymous...

Any way to fix it?
