CHANDAN NANDY 27.08.17
I was among other men who were surgically castrated at the behest of Baba (Gurmeet Ram Rahim). The surgeons, all under the spell of Baba, cut open my scrota and removed the testes. Since then I have undergone severe hormonal changes that resulted in loss of facial hair and gynaecomastia, Chauhan said, not ashamed to reveal his inability to have normal sexual activity ever since that fall night 17 years ago.
Medical reports in the possession of The Quint clearly say that Chauhans scrotal sacs were found to be empty, no testes present and that linear scars horizontally placed, measuring approximately 1 inch on both sides of
the scrotal sac.
The medical report was prepared (by three doctors) following an order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court which Chauhan moved in his effort to expose Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his obsession with allegedly surgically castrating the men in the upper, middle and lower rungs of the Dera Sacha Sauda management.

When a Ram Rahim ‘Premi’ Woke Up toFind His Testicles Missing
One night in October 2000, HansrajChauhan, then 19 years old, was ushered into the operation theatre ofa Dera Sacha Sauda hospital in Gurusar Modiya in Rajasthan’s SriGanganagar. After he was offered a glass of Pepsi by a medicalcompounder, Chauhan slipped into unconsciousness. When he regainedconsciousness two days later, he was horrified to find his testicleswrapped in bandages.
Speaking to The Quint over the phonefrom Tohana village in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, where he nowlives, Chauhan has a rather clear recollection of how his testiclescame under the scalpel.

A Punjab and Haryana High Court orderof 23 December 2014 concluded that Chauhan was castrated, perhaps atthe instance of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, whose real name is Harpal Singh.
“There is definite averment thatcastration was at the instance of the 5th respondent (Gurmeet RamRahim) and he had undergone mutilation of the testicles on a practiceof deception and promise by the 5th respondent that such an act wouldpave (the) way for realisation of God. The medical examinationconducted through (the court) on express orders have filed that thepetitioner has no testicles and he may have been castrated bysurgery,” the high court said.
The Quint also spoke to Chauhan’sadvocate, Navkiran Singh.
Hansraj came to my office in 2012 andafter discussing his case I decided to provide Pro Bono services forhis case in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Although we weresuccessful in getting a CBI inquiry marked by the Punjab &Haryana High Court in December 2014, the CBI has of late dragging itsfeet and the investigation has been progressing at a snail speed, despite 10 interim status reports being submitted to the Punjab &Haryana High Court.

Chauhan was formally inducted into theDera Sacha Sauda on 15 January 1996 when he was no more than 13-14years old. His father, Balluram Chauhan, was a hand-pump mechanic.
I was given a piece of barfi, which wasthe usual initiation rite followed at Baba’s Sirsa ashram. I wasgiven the task of fixing the loud speakers, though subsequently Itook to playing the guitar and sang bhajans at the Dera’sgatherings.
“Sometime in 2000, Baba felt that thebrahmacharis at the Sirsa ashram should be prohibited from gettingmarried or having normal sexual activity. Two doctors, Dr MP Singh, who was chief medical officer at the Shah Satsangi SpecialtyHospital, and Dr Pankaj Garg, who now lives in Mohali, were tasked tooversee the castration of some of the devotees,” Chauhan said.
Baba khud ayyashi karta tha. Woh baathumein pata tha, par hum kuchh nahin kek ya kar sakte the. Humarihimmat nahin hoti. (Baba would himself indulge in debauchery. We knewabout it, but we could do nothing. We did not have the courage toquestion or expose him.)

At the Sirsa ashram, one woman couldnot meet another. This was even more strictly enforced in the opulentgufa (den) which Gurmeet Ram Rahim occupied. The women that he wouldtarget would be mentally prepared for his sexual depravities. Hewould resort to emotional blackmailing to prevent the women fromreporting these encounters. The followers were not allowed to usemobile phones, they could not read newspapers and could interact withrelatives for just a few minutes.
All the young men and women would bebrainwashed with the aid of strange substances and sermons. We wouldgradually lose the power of rational thinking. We would experience akind of mind paralysis that would make us incapable of taking rightdecisions.

Another Dera Sacha Sauda devotee, whodid not want to be identified for reasons of personal security, saidthat the “so-called father-daughter relationship” between GurmeetRam Rahim and Honeypreet Insan is “certainly questionable”.
Honeypreet, who accompanied Gurmeet ona helicopter on Friday after he was convicted in a rape case, wasmarried to one Vishwas Gupta (“Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s muh-boladamaad”) before the couple divorced.
“Baba has two biological daughtersand a son. There is no clarity on why he adopted Honeypreet when healready had two daughters. Baba’s wife lived in a secluded andwell-guarded housing unit within the Sirsa ashram,” Chauhan said, claiming that “depending on the wealth possessed by devotees, theywould have had to cough up money between Rs 5,000 and Rs 1 lakh”.
Money would be raised by auctioningvegetables. A 10-15-kg basket full of cauliflower would be offeredfor bidding. This could fetch as much as Rs 1 crore. A few formerdevotees The Quint contacted alleged that land grabbing in placesclose to Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s ashrams in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthanand parts of UP was common.

Re: Woke Up to Find His Testicles Missing
Another good reason to avoid India. In the 1950's my family was on a sea voyage to Singapore and a port in India was one stop. Shall we say, the port came out to us many miles at sea. The trash, the smell, the filth...I can clearly hear my Mother say to my Father, "Dear, if you even consider going ashore and taking the children, I will castrate you before I divorce you, take every home we own, all your monies, not to mention making you a social Pariah." (This last word was, on her part, unintentionally amusing.) When we finally docked, security provided by the P&O line was stationed at any possible access to the ship to prevent stowaways. What ever provisions we took on board were as scrupulously cleaned as was possible without destroying them.
Decades later I did visit India on my own and remembered my Mother's thoughtful advice to her husband. Based on my own observations, I altered my journey to go to South Korea where I had multiple trips to one of their spas for the most thorough cleaning and cleansing possible. Even then I felt strangely about certain items of clothes which I subsequently had burned in our incinerator.
Yes India is beautiful, more so if seen at a distance or on film. To paraphrase Geneticist J B S Haldane, India is more deadly than we imagine, it's far more deadly than we can imagine. I cannot help but agree with the eminent Doctor.
