Congratulations! What a nice early Christmas present to yourself. Please keep us updated on your progress, especially since you're a bit of a guinea pig at least here on the forums with this new procedure. My impression was that the reason he previously refused to remove everything at the same time was because the swelling from the orchiectomy could cause complications with the scrotectomy. I wonder what caused him to change his mind. I've just started a trial run on Androcur and if that goes well I plan to contact Dr. A to go forward with my castration. While I plan to keep my penis (at least for now) I definitely want to be smooth underneath so if he can do both at the same time with good results that will be nice and probably save me some money too when you account for time off from work, travel, lodging, etc.
Your impressions are correct. The first time I saw anyone post about getting both done at the same time, Dr. A was reluctant to do so but complied. I cannot remember the member's name here, but he did indeed have more discomfort, swelling and a longer heal time than just the orchie. I asked about it and was told as you noted; six month wait time. Considering how long it took for my orchie to heal and how much the damn thing hurt for awhile, I am glad I didn't pursue that option.
IF you are considering both procedures at the same time, please remember that Dr. A is a urologist with GRS experience. The end result may not be as "nice" as one might like? For that to be an optimal result, you'd probably be better off waiting and scheduling a plastic surgeon for the scrotum removal.
