Indeed, patience is the word. My right side took 12 weeks to clear the scrotum, and I am well on the wayto the same in week 7 on my left side.

Thanks to all. Swellings and pain are still there, although pain tends to become less severe. Patience is the word, I guess...

Well, orchiectomy and scrotum removal done earlier today by Dr. A. Right now it’s swollen, messy and painful. But I expected no less. Will post pics in a couple of days, need to rest a bit first !

Congratulations on achieving eunuch-hood. Hopefully your recovery will be quick and with few complications.

That good news that Dr. A. now performs scrotectomies at the same time as orchiectomies. Before you had to wait at least 6 months before he would remove a eunuch's empty scrotum. Who wants to schealp back to Detroit to get rid of a empty, useless scrotum.

Please keep us updated on your progress, especially since you're a bit of a guinea pig at least here on the forums with this new procedure. My impression was that the reason he previously refused to remove everything at the same time was because the swelling from the orchiectomy could cause complications with the scrotectomy. I wonder what caused him to change his mind. I've just started a trial run on Androcur and if that goes well I plan to contact Dr. A to go forward with my castration. While I plan to keep my penis (at least for now) I definitely want to be smooth underneath so if he can do both at the same time with good results that will be nice and probably save me some money too when you account for time off from work, travel, lodging, etc.

Your impressions are correct. The first time I saw anyone post about getting both done at the same time, Dr. A was reluctant to do so but complied. I cannot remember the member's name here, but he did indeed have more discomfort, swelling and a longer heal time than just the orchie. I asked about it and was told as you noted; six month wait time. Considering how long it took for my orchie to heal and how much the damn thing hurt for awhile, I am glad I didn't pursue that option.

IF you are considering both procedures at the same time, please remember that Dr. A is a urologist with GRS experience. The end result may not be as "nice" as one might like? For that to be an optimal result, you'd probably be better off waiting and scheduling a plastic surgeon for the scrotum removal.

If he was a GRS surgeon, he must have been a crappy one. He leaves so much scarring on every surgery of his I've seen the results of, that include significant skin removals (scrotum or penis). I personally know one person who went to him intact and in one surgery became a nullo, and they have horrible scarring and are now wearing a suprapubic catheter because the urinary opening Arnkoff constructed healed shut. Then the is the other nullo that went to him a bit before the previously mentioned guy, and while his urethra hasn't healed over, his scarring is horrible.

I sincerely doubt he's got any sort of decent reputation in the MtF gender reassignment arena. Frankly, I'd avoid him for anything other than orchiectomy/castration, where the eunuch retains their scrotum.

Thats interesting Losethem. So is it easier to get a good surgeon to remove the scrotum after being castrated? I guess they no longer care about letters from Psychiatrists.

I concur. Even his simple castrations utilize an enormous horizontal scar. I have to say, sugically he is a total hack. My castration in Mexico no less, involves tiny little holes in my scrotum that are invisible now. I would never go to Arnkoff.

Regarding dr. Arnkoff I've developed impression over time, that his techniques of surgery are either strange or outdated. It is because people, who have been castrated by dr. Arnkoff develope large hematomas, a lot of swelling and generally it takes a month or even more for swelling to go down. I've seen pictures and read reports of his patients. While it is possible to leave very little hematoma and not so much swelling with recovery times (swelling gone) starting from 2-3 weeks. Of course, it all depends of patient general health too. But thats simple statistics that has formed my personal opinion.
