Sorry guys, I think is a strange bit of code thats on the banner of the provider I use to forward the domain name. Only SOME banners have this ... and you'll only ever see it if you use some kind of guard program.
If in doubt, use the ACTUAL address of my system:
Please let me know if THIS has the same result ... in which case I need to have a closer look at MY system!
Gator also usually triggers because it's already installed itself on your system without your knowing it. It comes with Kazaa, and I've heard of it sneaking in through Comet Cursor and Bonzi Buddy as well. The way it works is that if it's infested your system and you go to a site with Gator-enabled ads, it pops them up and tracks that you've been there.
Recently I found a pretty decent utility to get rid of this and other annoying spyware. It's called "Spybot - Search and Destroy." Some German (I think) kid wrote it and it works really well. You can find it pretty easy on Google; just type in the name of the program and a number of mirror sites for it will come up. It removed a boatload of crap off my work and home machines, much of which I didn't even know was there (that being the nature of spyware...). It's especially good at getting rid of Gator, Xupiter, Comet Cursor, Bonzi Buddy and the like.
Now if only I could track down the assholes who write this stuff and kill them. Sigh.
