Looking for an old story on the Archive
The broad outline is a powerful Queen offers half her kingdom to the man who can please her sexually - except if he fails he's castrated. Despite the huge downside, many still try out. Our hero tries and fails learning that she has had a clitoridectomy and can't cum and this is her way of taking it out on all men. Please if you recall this story point me to it. THANKS

This isn't your story but in Giacomo Puccini's last opera Turandot -- the Princess Turandot has challenged all suitors to three riddles. If the princely suitor gets a riddle wrong, he is beheaded. The story has an unknown Prince solve the three riddles and he gives Turandot one riddle in return - if she learns his name, he will go to the execution rather than marry her. Puccini wrote a happy ending, love triumphs.
Considering how many tragic deaths occur in operas... I do sometimes wonder what an audience would do with beheadings, castrations and clitoridectomies onstage as long as the story has beautiful music.
