The movies Dave listed were one timers. Mostly stinkers.

Sharknado hit a cultural chord. Having seen the Santa Monica Pier and West L.A. many times,

the first Sharknado was deeply meaningful to me. It made me hate sharks more than ever.

Sharknado has evolved into one of those, it's so bad, it's good phenomena.

A stunt all those movies Dave listed did not manage to accomplish.

Sharknado, Y'gotta believe.

And where else can I see Cassandra Scerbo prancing around in short cut offs?

That seems to be the guiding principle of "disaster" movies.

Think about the disturbing lack of quality in all those "Transformer" movies.

And those rather bloody "Piranha" movies whose great attraction was a floating severed penis.

And that "alien possessed wooly mammoth movie"
