Welcome to the beta readers' forum.

This forum will be for anyone to volunteer to be a beta reader. This will give potential authors the opportunity to have someone read their story before it gets submitted.

If you would like to be a beta reader, please include your email address or PM so that authors can contact you easily.

Also, please post and introduce yourself, stating what kinds of stories you would be willing to beta read. For example, if you do not like to read stories involving Gay/Minor/Nullification for example, state that and what you WOULD be willing to help authors proof.

Stories will not be transferred via the Archive between beta readers and authors. This is something that YOU will have to do between yourselves via email.

Stories should NOT be posted to this board. Minor snippets may be posted for review or help, along with questions if need be.

Thanks.

Great idea Paolo ...

From my perspective a 'Beta Reader' can help with as little as making sure the formatting is correct to as much as giving advice on plot, chatacters, etc.

I would like to encourage our regular authors, among others, to volunteer to AT LEAST help with formatting issues.

I would also suggest that in addition to email, the private messaging system here on the board is a great way to exchange ideas.

In addition, I am 'pre-announcing' a new Hotmail style email system we have in the works here at EA that will give our members a real @eunuch.org internet email address with a fantastic web interface. We're not ready to roll it out yet, but when we do that will also be a great way to contact and exchange information with beta readers.

In view of what has happened since, I'm probably about three years too late BUT I would be very happy to help, proof-read or advise if I can, on any EA related stories.

I think formatting issues are very important. There are many stories in the archive that are virtually impossible to read due to various problems such as no paragraphing, run-on sentences, poor grammar, spelling errors, and the like.

What the archive really needs is an editor/proofreader to fix some of the really messed up but otherwise interesting stories that express a new or unique idea. Antoher problem is that some of the stories are in strange word processor formats that don't lend themselves to viewing on a screen. Naturally, fixing this sort of thing can be very time consuming.

My eyes are bad so stories that have strange background colors or exotic fonts are also very difficult for me to read.

Good luck with this....

BETA STORY READERS

In my earlier post, the message before last, I offered to be a Beta reader for any eunuch.org draft stories. Unfortunately, I managed to mislay an email from a writer asking if I would help with some of his stuff so, if he would care to contact me again, I'll try to assist.

As I recall, his stories were in Wordperfect. I can't read that but a text or RTF attachment is fine, or PDF which was a suggested alternative.

Hope to hear.

I would be only to happy to assist authors with proof reading and the subject matter is of no concern to me. I have already done this for my fav. author on EA.

I sent an email to the archive but I have read some messages saying that there are problems with the email system so I do not know if it was received. I am posting the email here in the hope that the appropriate person sees it. Here it is:

___________________________________________

If you get any stories that involve minors who are penectomized or nullified and which need editing, I would be glad to edit them for you. I have written a few stories under the name curious_guy. You can look at them and see that I do a fairly good job of editing.

My new email address is:

Maybe we could have several different volunteers, each editing their favorite type of story. This way we could have readable stories without any one person having to spend too much time editing.
