Charlie (sometimes short for Charlene) versus short for Charles.

Andy (Andrew/Andrea) could also work for either gender.

If you are OK with names that are similar when gender is changed, it opens up a lot more options. For example, I've used these in the "tg" stories I've written:

Eric / Erica

Jack / Jaqueline

Jimmy / Janey / Jinny / Jenny

Paul / Paula

Ron / Roni / Ronny

Sean / Shawn / Shawna

If you Google Fantasy Name Generator, Wizard Name Generator, Medieval Name Generator, or Sci Fi Name Generator you can sometimes get names that are obscure enough that you could use them for either gender. Also gives you interesting ideas for names of your characters.
