Inferno (2016)

IMDB gives this summary: When Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Dr. Sienna Brooks, and together they must race across Europe against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.

It's fun but like diet potato chips made without salt -- unsatisfying.

Well, Langdon does wake up to hallucinations and strange memories. He Hallucinates Dante's Inferno and the images of several pieces of old apocalyptic art... Lots of hallucinations. He can't remember much for the first half of the movie but that eventually wears off. Someone is looking for something and needs information. However, it isn't the Holy Grail or the Illuminati ... It's just another rich psychopath trying to kill 90% of humanity and start over.

Somebody betrays him.

This isn't THE DA VINCI CODE or ANGELS AND DEMONS ... Those contained intricate plots and obscure facts.

This is a chase across the cities of the world in search of a hidden virus capable of wiping out most of humanity. Pretty but still a single chase with like four or five incompetent agencies chasing Langdon.

THere's another betrayal.

It's a fun romp for most of the time but it isn't challenging. It's a lot of who to trust? Who is betraying whom? Why is that person involved? Why did he kill that person? All sorts of bizarre questions.

And as we all were waiting with bait-ed breath, the reveal of Langdon's lost lover...

(herring halitosis)

The reason I watched this was that I got it as a 99 cent rental. Enough fun for a night's movie.

And when nothing else is on tonight but repeats of SHIPPING WARS (I won't even take a shit with that nonsense the TV), I can watch it again.
