For those not taking TRT following surgery
Can you tell me when you started experiencing the various side effects of low testosterone, e.g hot flashes, lack of sexual desire, difficulty of sustained erections, etc.? Is it weeks or months? I have been on TRT since my orchiectomy and am considering stopping. I'm curious when I would begin to see any changes. Any advice? I work out regularly and am careful about my diet. Thanks!

I started having effects within a week or so but changes kept happening 2.5 years. Actually think I got Horner for a little bit then started diving off!

What type of TRT do are you doing... injections, gels,..?
Thats the mainquestion to your situation and how fast you will feel effects.
If you are on gel, it will set in very fast 3 days or so. If you using injections it will need weeks.

Thanks. I'm using testosterone cypionate injections so its good to know not to wonder what changes to continue to expect for the next few weeks. I sweated profuseiy at gym last night but then that could just be coincidental. Normally, I don't perspire as much during my workouts.

I had also injections for a while (subcutanous) but I'm now off, as test for my urologist and what are my levels without.
On me it lasts 3+ weeks to feel the change but could be, on muscle injections it will set in faster.

For me it has been about a year and a half after my orchiectomy on June 6, 2015. I've never taken hormones mainly because I feel that it would defeat the purpose of getting the procedure done.
I started experiencing hot flashes almost immediately. At first they were happening so often that they were a bit annoying. Now, I still get them, but much less often, but sometimes more intense. I think I may have gotten a night sweat a few nights ago. It was pretty cold as it is still winter, but I actually woke up sweating.
I haven't masturbated or desired to masturbate or get even an erection since November 2015 (about five months post op). Personally I really love this, as it is the main reason I got the procedure done in the first place.
I like you have also continued to work out and watch my diet. I have actually started cycling since I became a eunuch, and I've lost about thirty pounds. Basically I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life at 52... and the happiest.

Without TRT bone density becomes a problem. Make sure you have it tested annually.

Re: For those not taking TRT following surgery
I qualify as one of those "not taking TRT following surgery".
I was surprised at how low natural T levels could go before I noticed any changes. I had mine checked as part of my annual blood work for the last few years ever since I realized radiation for prostate cancer had a big effect on my T levels. Mine were in the mid to high 100s about a year before castration but I still had a noticeable libido, at least for a 70 year old and no other signs of low T. Then I got serious about castration and started injecting Everclear. T level dropped to 60 and the doc agreed to castrate me. I heed his advice and take a 600mg calcium capsule twice a day and had my first annual bone scan last fall. So far, AOK.
A couple months after surgery the hot flashes began, not severe enough to restrict any abilities, but noticeable and sometimes several times a day and/or enough to wake me up at night. But I notice that over the last few months they seem to have stopped and now I rarely experience one. I've lost almost all body hair except for a few stragglers on my chest and very thin pubic hair. What little libido remained has completely disappeared and I don't miss it one bit. With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight it was a distracting waste of time.
I've never taken any TRT and have no plans to. Both my PCP and urologist advised against it from the beginning and unless there are any health changes that warrant it I never will.
I probably wouldn't feel this way if I were half my age but I'm very content with being a eunuch and couldn't be happier with the result and have absolutely no regrets.
I do notice that I seem to be more tolerant of others (but no evidence that it's because of becoming a eunuch) than I used to be but none of my personal beliefs or interests have changed and I still strongly identify as a male.
I wish every one of you the same post castration positive results that I'm experiencing.

Re: For those not taking TRT following surgery
I was castrated 12/06/97 and have never taken any type of HRT. As I remember the hot flashes were first but it has been many, many years since the last one. Next came the greater emotional range where happy things made me happier and anything sad would bring me to tears. Like the hot flashes the emotional roller coaster smoothed out into a comfortable ride. I remember thinking after the emotions calmed down eunuch peace became eunuch boredom. As far as my bones are concerned I have never had a bone scan and I tend to self test by having some pretty serious falls. My last fall was New Years Day when I fell so fast I was face down in the mud before I knew I was falling. Sore ribs but no broken bones so my bone strength must still be good.
