It seems like castration has been done for a long time. How on earth did the eunuchs handle the excruciating pain without anesthesia? Is there anything castration without anesthesia is comparable to?
Did they pass out or die most of the time?

Re: Ancient castration
Yes i think its really unbelievable how they did stand the pain. Cutting the balls off must be the most human way to do it. Half the boys that should have made eunuch singers by castration in italy in the first half of the 18th century died. But many boys have been castrated by their parents by having their balls crushed between two rocks to made them eunuch singers. This must be pain!!

Use the search function and you will find credible information about how eunuchs became eunuchs in the distant past. So much good information that you do not need to speculate.

Well, castration is no more atrocious than having your hand cut off with a knife (like the Muslim tradition for thieves). In antiquity, most castrated men died of infection, because after castration they were buried standing up in sand, up to their waist. In Italy in the 19th century they used opium to drug the guy, so pain was minimal. In China, they also cut the penis and they used hot oil to cauterize the wound. Never mind the pain, in those times castration meant a high risk of death and that had nothing to do with erotic castration.

They screamed real loud unless they followed the Cybele or another cult.

Quaro (whatever the spelling is) asks the ever creepy question of "how do Eunuchs pee" (be good, dave, DOn't say it. be good, dave, Don't say it. be good dave...) They have a list of several other really stupid questions at the bottom of the article.
Those have links to more websites.
