In my 24-hour, 30-day effort to avoid watching the HALLMARK channels "never-ending, ceaseless and constant, all-day Christmas movie" month, I went back to watch BATMAN V SUPERMAN: THE DAWN OF JUSTICE ... for the 3rd time.
So I'm back to pick on the bones
THere's too much in this movie for an audience to figure out where and why it fits. That is completely apparent.
There is a Batman arc, revealed in the "surprise" for half of the movie about how Bruce Wayne was "harmed" by ZOD's World Engine in the previous Superman movie.
There is a Superman arc, superman has angst and ennui and soul-searching because he isn't universally loved. Superman's victory over Zod left lots of destruction, after all.
There is WONDER WOMAN's arc just to introduce her and set up her excellent movie.
There is LEX LUTHER's bizarre arc of lunacy and mental illness that sets up "Darkseid" in some future movie.
And the plot turns on an intergalactic coincidence of "Same name" to tie up all ends.
Shakespeare didn't try anything this complex.
The Oresteia and Oedipus trilogies are not that complex.
The Iliad and the Odyssey have simpler plots.
However, the gift of this mess -- WONDER WOMAN -- is well worth watching.
Dave craps in BATMAN V SUPERMAN but not Wonder Woman (wink, wink)
