Starting therapy monday

Hey everyone,

So I have made the decision to start going to gender therapy and I have my first appointment Monday. I'm nervous as hell but it needs to be done. So I have a question for anyone who has been to therapy about any documentation I could take with me to help explain my situation??? I'm not just looking for the answers that sound good, I want this process to be honest and true to me, but in saying that, I'm not great with words, especially when nervous. I don't know if the male the eunuch will be something they have handled before and just want to be a little prepared.

Any advice would be great.

I recommend a therapist that follows WPATH.org guidelines. This is how I found my therapist. I don't know what your goal is.... but I went in with a typed up list documenting my history back to puberty and before... including previous attempts with therapy; triggers that causes thought to increase etc. Private msg me if you want to chat

LT, just out of curiosity why would you recommend the therapist not be trans?

it doesn't really seem like I have much to choose when it come to therapist... We only have one where I live!!! I live in a small regional city. So I'm more thinking of being prepared.

At this point I make that blanket recommendation because to my knowledge, there is not a therapist out there who is a nullo and "gets it" as far as those of us who wish to be nullified, but remain otherwise male. Those people went through a complete gender reassignment, and from my experience, are very hostile to the idea of anything other than gender being binary. For them it's one or the other with no in between.

My therapist, who was not himself transgendered was awesome.

Oh dear, this pesky, "my help must be local" thing is rearing it's head again. I'm not trying to be mean, but often you must travel to get what you want. That's especially true for things like gender non-conformity.

It's not that I'm unwilling to travel, but I do have to start somewhere, and why not start local?? They may be great, they may be able to refer me to someone with better knowledge? A few people on this forum including lostthem have been trying to get people to see that this can be achieved by doing it the right way!! So I was hopeing to be able to get some leads I could pass on to my gender theriapest given that there will be a good chance they have not worked this area before?

The folks in your area have had a very difficult time achieving this. It seems at this point the only good western doctors doing it are in the US. When I made an initial comment about why travel to Thailand, I was mistaken that you were over here in the US or in Europe somewhere. I can see why Thailand might be an attractive option. From what I understand, there are options there to have a penectomy done legitimately. There is one guy (former, he has since transitioned to female) that went to Thailand to have his genitals removed. Afterwards she seems very happy about it.

I think options in Thailand are less now, but not impossible. I'd still seek out a physician there but not a cutter.
