Yes; correct! However--and especially considering the risk of cancer--it never hurts to check, no?

Statistically, undescended testes which reside up inside the inguinal canals, or even higher up inside the body, are much more prone to becoming cancerous if left there.

As far as I have read, the risk for cancer in an undescended testicle may be reduced a bit by surgery (whereafter the testicle resides inside the scrotum), but always (not only "if left there") stays distinctly higher than normal.
