RISEN is a throwback to an older form of 1950's Biblical movie.
It stars Joseph Feinnes, Tom Felton, Peter Firth, and Cliff Curtis.
I hesitated to write this because I've seen this movie before done much better. I don't like the writing on this movie. It's plebeian and after STARZ's SPARTACUS series, it's dialogue sounds silly and colloquial.
The Plot: In 33 AD, a Roman Tribune in Judea is tasked to find the missing body of an executed Jew rumored to have risen from the dead.
However consider watching the older movies -- THE ROBE (Richard Burton), Barabbis (Anthony Quinn), Demetrius and the Gladiators (Victor Mature), Quo Vadis (Robert Taylor), or any of the big (really epic) Biblical moves (like Ben Hur, King of Kings, etc) ...
They are all more satisfying and better written.

Risen is Major Suck
that attempts to achieve the depth of the ole Richard Burton etc. films but, doesn't.
Probably because script writers are not of the same class, nor regarded with such respect today.
No Risen,
California Raisins (available on Youtube) more enjoyable.
