General Anesthetic
I feel I would prefer just to have local anaesthetic when being physical castrated with a penictomy so I can see myself being castrated
So my question is thus:
Would a surgeon prepared to perform said double operation be prepared to operate on you just locally anathesisied?
Thanks guys

Re: General Anesthetic
I recon you could get by with a local for the nuts.
Perhaps an epidural for the full monty.
I'm not sure that many doc's would be happy with this..

Re: General Anesthetic
I was castrated 10 years ago by Dr. Kimmel in Philadelphia and he just used local anesthesia, 4-5 shots while I laid there. I just wanted it over and wanted to get home. Took him maybe an hour. One of our members was first castrated by Dr. Arnkoff and then penectomized by him or his female associate some time later. http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php ... +penectomy

Re: General Anesthetic
Anything more then a local numbing is the overkill for that little surgery (Castration).
For penectomie is a spinal anesthesia the best.
It's often doing by docs because it is expensive and the patient have to pay it.

Re: General Anesthetic
I have no personal experience or medical training.
It does occur to me that given the nature of the surgery some doctors might want the patient completely under to ensure that they don't "freak out" when the actual cutting begins.
I had a skin cancer removed from my forearm. Only a local was used. I looked over at the cutting a few times (I'm not particularly squeamish) but chose not to for the most part. I can imagine that any last minute second thoughts or doubts about a castration might suddenly spring to life if someone were able to see what's going on, or even to think too much about what's going on.

Re: General Anesthetic
I asked for a local when I was castrated but was talked out of it by the surgeon who said there would be a lot of pulling etc. Judging by the bruising up in my abdomen he was probably right. I still feel I should have insisted on a local

I think chastebob is on to somthing with the "Freak out" theory.
I would prefer to be wide awake also as it would be a big part of my life I would be missing out on.
There was a story a while back where some guy had a vasectomy using acupuncture as anasthetic..errr I think I would want a bit more than that.

Re: General Anesthetic
I had one under general anesthesia and one under local and the experience of being aware of all of it and my wife assisting was a lot more memorable!

Re: General Anesthetic
I asked my urologist about a local in a roundabout way, "Do you do this with a local or general anesthesia"? He said, "You don't want to be awake and I don't want you awake". That ended any further discussion. I didn't really care one way or the other. I was just thrilled that he agreed to do the surgery.
