slow changes to my body
I have been on Estrofem and Spiro for a little over 3 weeks now. My nipples are finally getting tender and are a little puffy.
Can't tell much yet about my penis and testes however my sac seems a little more drawn up than usual.
I have noticed some changes in body hair. My underarm hair growns back much slower after shaving as do my legs. Unfortunately, the hair around and above my penis still grows fairly fast so I have to shave more often.
I know it will take time but am really looking forward to when there are no more erections and my penis and testes shrink to as small as possible. The breast growth is something I can deal with. Since I am in my 50s, it is not so much an issue for me.

Re: slow changes to my body
It's good to read your news and to read of your own appreciation
of the chemical changes currently underway. Nice............
My own programme is Cyproterone Acetate tabs which I have been on since October (I think the name is a generic name for androcur).
I felt the same early symptoms as you. I see you are not concerned about the nipple puffiness; I wasn't either I am 47.
After a while if your drugs act like mine the nipple increase and the increase in the level of their arousal will kind of halt.
You will find some, if not already that any penis arousal stops
totally and shrinkage gets well under way; balls feel, well
"closed down" and useless and very small and libido is minus zero.
As a gay asexual guy I am pleased with the adjustments and I wish you the same docile, flaccid pleasure.
I was chatting with Antonia last week and mentioned one strange
side effect -my taste buds have changed anyone else found that symptom but I must add I also take Lansoprazole for reflux
oesphagitus and that may explain that; its good to read of
member's chemical programmes and success here on the boards!

Re: slow changes to my body
I need to add an additional essential point to my posting above.
1) My Doctor knows all about my programme and is aware of the
"taste bud" symptoms I mentioned.
Never, ever undertake a chemical programme unilaterally by using online pharmacies; my sincere advice is that it is essential that your own Dr./GP is the individual who should look after your own total health welfare. He/She will know all about drug compatibility and will prescribe drugs and ensure that blood tests and other monitoring is established and going on while you take hormonal drugs. A local Men's Health Group may provide advice
if you wish to seek knowledge and you are hesitant to go straight to your own Dr.
If you are serious in your wishes, be courageous and use the correct authorities;urologist dept referral and Dr support.
Also, keep off all alcohol whilst taking certain drugs and do not drive if you feel sleepy, which you will do initially.
A chemical programme is great as it is not invasive and can be stopped; androgens are blocked and when treatment stops virililty may return. So see your Dr; get full back up and enjoy the benefits of being a eunuch without surgery. Always work with the authorities and never, ever in isolation.

Re: slow changes to my body
You guys are working to shut down your sexuality, while I'm working to restart my own. Desire rages with the testosterone injection, but I still have Paxil in my system. I can't get it up to save my life or to get off.
I living the next best thing to having active testicles and not having a penis.
I'm so damm horny that I struggle to sleep because even in my dreams I cry out for release! :tongueout

Re: slow changes to my body
Old Softee...that is the problem I had...the testosterone was dictating my life. It was to the point I was afraid I would make a mistake at work and approach a female I should not and ruin my career. I was having trouble sleeping at night.
I wanted to eliminate all sexual urges and abilities. I rechanneled my pleasure through changing my body. As I watch my body change and feel the freedom of no sexual urges I am finding inner peace.
The sooner my testosterone production strops...penis and testicle shrinkage gets underway, lose the ability to have an erection, and breast development if that happens... the sooner I will be content and at peace with my self and can be more focused.

Re: slow changes to my body
I just want to focus on getting laid! Well, not really. I want to restore and then enjoy the sexuality that I now miss.
The best aspect of my life has been essential sexual, though there is much else I also enjoy.
However, I do understand why others want to reduce or do away with their sexual drives. I do understand.

Re: slow changes to my body
Well guys, I was on my own program of Androcur, after about 5 months and when everything was shut down I did seek out a IM Doctor.
Lets start back at the beginning, a year ago September I started Androcur, a drug not approved in the USA so off to the internet to get my supply. After two weeks my night erections stopped and sex drive was going down. My nipples started to get tender and grow, I also started putting on weight. At the same time I stopped smoking, to 30 lbs is the total, fatter then I have ever been.
By December the tender nipples were going, sex drive gone, erections gone, oily skin gone, underarm hair gone, body hair starting to get thinner and lighter which is still going on today, Hair on my head is starting to grow again.
I February my stomach was giving me trouble, it turned out to be my Gallbladder, after they shaved me from just under the nipples to my dick from side to side to surgery I went. Its almost a year later and you can still see a line from where I was shaved. The hair that was not touched is much shorter and a lot thinner.
Other changes, my skin is softer, smother.
Now of the other side, I am more emotional, I tend to cry at odd times. Hot flashes and night sweats, I think the last one was in May.
March I saw my new doctor and he did the blood tests. My testosterone count was 35. Normal is between 500 and 900, 250 - 300 is time for Viagra. Although I was not tested in December I do believe I was at that time a eunuch. I never noticed if my testicles were getting smaller but when they were removed I could tell they were about half the size they once were. I also found I had high cholesterol, added with the acid reflex I now have two new pills to take.
I have been having trouble with my lower back for several years, its getting worse. In September 2002 I went to Philly and was castrated with scrotal reduction. I stopped taking Androcur about a week later. My doctor checked my blood again and had me have a bone scan. Testosterone level is less then 20 or to little to measure. Bone scan - I have Osteoporosis, I now take a pill once a week in the morning on an empty stomach with 12 or more oz of water. I must stay up or sit for an hour then I can take the rest of the several groups of meds I take. The drug is called Fosamax. You get 4 pills a month, I have refills through the end of 2003.
So the big question is would I do it again, Answer I wish I would have been castrated sooner.
As always if anybody has further questions feel free to email me.

Thank you Sac_mec for the very interesting coversation.
You have encountered a symptom I have not heard of before and I am sure others have other interesting experiences that should be shared.
We used to chat more on the serious side of castration in the past, but sadly this as mostly vanished.
I would like to invite more people to the Archive Chatroom to meet and discuss their experiences.
your Antonia

Re: slow changes to my body
shortnshaved,
Yes, the changes are slow and steady. It takes time to get the results you are looking for. If you are feeling the effects of treatment now, then you are doing well for your given dosage of meds. Don't over do it or take more than you should. Above all, you should let your doctor know what you are doing and have him/her monitor you for anything bad, like liver functions and blood clots. It's potentialy dangerous to try this sort of thing on you own.
I too have been on a program of spiro and estrogens. A word of advice, the use of estrogens WILL cause feminizing effects as well as reduced labido. If you are seeking just the reduced labido, consider staying with the anti-antrogen only.
Body hair is something that takes a while to reduce. I have heard it takes up to two years before you achive final results with less hair. It does slow down a lot, but may or may not disappear. Facial hair will have to be permenantly removed, if so desired, along with the body hair that has not responded to anti-androgens after that period of time. I have spent many hours and lots of $$$, trying to get rid of the hair I don't want.
Sac_mec,
I agree with you. Although I started on my own with HRT, I soon realized there is no substitute for a doctors care. Now I have a doctor who can monitor me for all the things that could go wrong and feel much safer doing so.
Interesting that you mentioned your taste buds. I had a small increase in my tastes, but not too noticable. The biggest thing I have noticed is my sense of smell. Sweet things now are more pronouced, and in general, I have a heightened sense of smell for everything else. I have become accustom to the changes now.
