Lots of them have 'tunnel vision' when it comes to understanding people different from them. They can be just as ignorant and prejudiced as anyone else. They get treated badly and then they turn right around and treat others the same way. Sad.
Yes mattman59: your observation has been my exact experience over the years. People are people after all. We are the sum total of our own experiences when it comes to it. There was a period of time in the Western world that to be gay simply brought on a "tunnel vision" hatred by the masses and many suffered physically and emotionally as a result. It's still much the same in a vast part of the globe we share with so many others. In many ways I would be considered the epitome of being different from everybody else. But at the same token, I'm not making it a point of standing on a soap box and forcing my difference on anybody else within earshot nor attempting to force my beliefs on anybody else. It is equally wrong for a heterosexual to force his belief physically or verbally on a homosexual as it is the other way around. Let us just all get along and live together peacefully, respecting each others personal beliefs along the way.
But then again, that may be way too close to utopia to ever become reality. Hi Hi
