Scrotectomy and Insurance

I'm thinking of getting my scrotum removed sooner rather than later. I know I'll have to check with the Doctor, but did anybody manage to get their insurance to cover the procedure? Did you use a urologist or a plastic surgeon?

Just found a plastic surgeon to do this, who like many, does not take insurance. It seems that is common, but if you get a urologist to do it, I'm told that insurance is more likely, but the result may not be as neat. I'm due to find out how it goes at the end of this month.

I spoke to my insurance company yesterday and they said that a scrotectomy would be covered if it were deemed "medically necessary." I have a consult with a urologist on 7/18. Fingers crossed.
