Being from Pittsburgh I feel fully qualified to judge Ohio. I have been to Columbus a number of times and really liked it. I have been to Cincinnati a a couple of times and its a pretty city and has a similar feel to Pittsburgh. Then there is Cleveland...the mistake on the lake...much better punchline (although the Cavaliers winning the NBA has taken some of the dullness off sadly).

I also agree with Dave completely. Philly is a good place to see a concert, but I never really WANTED to go there

I understand that a couple of decades or more ago there was a survey of sorts to find how friendly various cities in the US were. They did things like "lose" a wallet and see whether it got returned or ask directions on the street and see how helpful people were. After the survey, the Philadelphia paper had the headline, "Philadelphia Unfriendliest City" with the sub-headline "Who asked ya?"

A bit of irony for a city whose name means brotherly love.

Just an IMHO but there is nothing friendly about cities when compared to smaller towns. But when I think of Columbus I see Ali MacGraw sprinting topless through the night in "Good Bye Columbus" and I'm reminded of Woody Hayes, a colorful, entertaining and gritty old school football coach who ranks up there with the best of his peers like Paul "Bear" Bryant, Ara Parseghian, Bo Schembechler, Duffy Daugherty and others.

Like all big cities Philly isn't one of my favorite places but it's home to some remarkable medical facilities, specifically Jefferson Hospital and Wills Eye Clinic.

Cleveland may be referred to by some as "The mistake on the lake" but it's home to another top notch medical facility, The Cleveland Clinic.

I didn't say anything about bad about Cleveland because

1) the Steelers weren't involved

2) my friends up there cheered the Penguins over the Sharks (poke, poke, Jesus)

3) I kinda like LeBron James even though I'm not a BB fan. I think he's done good for Cleveland.

It wasn't actually the river itself but all the crap floating on top, wasn't it? I hear it's been cleaned up.

Same for Lake Erie. It used to have trouble supporting marine life but now it's a go to fishing destination. A local cop drags his boat to Ohio every summer, about a six hour drive just to fish Lake Erie for a week. And he's within a few miles of Lake Michigan which also has good fishing.

Yes, they cleaned up the Cuyahoga River and revitalized the Cleveland downtown area.

I have friends who have a summer cabin at Lake Erie and they dash up there very weekend. It's nice.

I used to take my family (Nephews, nieces, Mother, Aunt, & dog) to Cedar Point in Sandusky. That was nice.
