Don't waste your money. First check out Torproject.org for a fine free anonymous proxy solution. There is also much useful info on how to remain anonymous.

The tor project is the result of many years development and includes a Disconnect.me search utility.

At its easiest, it is very easy. As you learn how it works, you can be as difficult to find as you want.

I can use TOR to connect to the forum and personals, but it can't be used to connect to the chatroom as it blocks plug-ins. Any suggestions? (Note, I'm don't mean browsing anonymously to mess up the chat room, but at least connection to the chatroom in a secure manner)

I use Opera Developer Edition - it comes with built-in adblock and built-in VPN. It's a lot like a more-secure Chrome without most of the cruft.
