Going back to the original post.
I guess that dead horse is taking a bit of a battering but I'm not going to bin it off just yet.
I'm going to hang in there and hope somthing interesting happens.
Also I have been impressed with BBC2's offering "The Last Kingdom" and the History Channel's "Vikings"
However the "History" channel is doing its best to rewrite Norse mythology.
Are you aware of "Eaters of the Dead" by Michael Crichton, the movie was The 13th Warrior. Some liberties.
A translation of the most ancient record of Viking culture by an Arab. The manuscript is authenticated because it is found in several ancient libraries dating back to that time. Smithsonian magazine mentioned it too in their article about Vikings
Are you aware of "The Sagas". There was a Ragnar Lothbrook, and Lagatha who raided Rome. There was a Bjorn and a Ivar the Boneless who will kill King Aila because he killed Ivar's father, Ragnar.
In the old Vikings move with Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas,
Ernest Borgnine plays Ragnar jumping into a pit of wolves/dogs.
History Channel's Vikings may have more historical base than you give credit. Down to Rollo and the Normans.
As far as GoT.
Certainly. After viewers like us got sucked in with nudity and war and story for years and years,
they go soap opera knowing we will not abandon our investment
Moi
BTW I do love history and often sought out the Not Christian History sources.
So I was somewhat familiar with Viking stuff.
