Is Depo Provera self-administered?

I'm trying to find information online on how to self-inject it but I'm having a hard time.

Yes its a do it yourself job or you could get your partner to help.

Best injected into your buttock.

1/ Pick area of high muscle mass and thouroughly clean skin around area with anti bacterial cleaner.

2/ Pull cap off syringe gently and slowly press plunger to expell all air (A small droplet of the Depo will appear at tip of needle)

3/Push needle through skin and into the muscle of your buttock.

4/Gently draw back plunger of syringe a little and make sure there is no blood in the syringe(This is an important check to ensure you have not stuck the needle into a vein)

5/Gently push the plunger all the way to deposit the Depo into the muscle.Withdraw needle.

6/Replace cap over needle and break off the stub of the syringe and dispose of it correctly.

I need to add be very careful to avoid the sciatic nerve which runs through that area. --FLO--

I injected in my thighs. in the vastus externus muscle. there´s some videos in you tube showing how to do. I learnt injecting myself with videos and pics and reading guides. watching a video is helpful to see the proper area and don´t forget drawing back the plunger to avoid vessels.

How long does it take for this to start working?
