It depends on how your body reacts, if you do not have any medical problems (liver), forever. Note the longer your on chemical castration, the chance of non-recovery increases, and the greater the chance of testicle atrophy. The time frame can be very short to very long depending on your body.

what is testsical atrophy?
Your testicles shrink to almost nothing (from not producing testosterone ), and once there you can't recover function, also the longer you on chemical castration the chances of regaining fertility also shrink but at a much faster rate.

It may very well be non reversable after 6 months but certainly after 2 years as is the treatment for some with prostate cancer. I tend to agree that once the testicles shrink "significantly" it becomes permanent
