Tapered Off Androcur - Not Happy With The Results
September 3 I started using Androcur 50 mg tablets for chemical castration. I had started with 2 tablets daily for the first week, then up to three tablets the second week and back to two tablets a day thereafter. I have to say I was quite pleased with the results. However, as I began running low on my supply I tapered back to 1.5 tablets a day, then 1 and then a half. I have to say now that I've finished my supply I'm not happy with the return of male feelings. Not happy at all. It was so amazing to be able to look at say porn pictures and not feel anything. It was like sex just did not compute. I don't know if this is normal but I really couldn't even think what sex was like. The other thing though was my wife and I seemed to hug more, kiss more and cuddle a lot without any thoughts of sex. Why didn't I reorder before I ran out? Actually I was going to until my therapist said she was recommending me for HRT and, so I didn't have to take androgen blockers, an orchiectomy. She has written my HRT letter and will write the orchi letter. So in 17 days, I have an appointment with my urologist (the same one I've been seeing) and I'll have a talk with him. I'll be explaining I'm trans, that I will be starting HRT in March and about the therapist recommending the orchi. Since I have a history of orchalgia on my left side and my right side which was undescended as a child has reascended, Medicare and my insurance should pay for the castration. However, if he won't do it, there is a doctor in town who, with the therapists letter, will do an orchiectomy for trans people. So it will be done within a couple of months, it just depends on which doctor will be doing it. Then, thank goodness, some of these returned feelings should disappear.

Hi Hopeful1,
Firstly good luck with the op.
As I understand your writings here, you were happy with your results although I am not entirely sure of what you were after.
You also say that you didn't like the results when you stopped taking the tablets. Again as I understand it, that is because you returned to your previous state.
Am I correct in my understandings ?
I am thinking of a trial and hoping to lower my T and hopefully shrink my balls as well.

Yes, you are correct in your understandings. What I was after with the trial was to simply see the results. Of course a with estrogen and possibly progesterone, the results after the orchi will be quite different from the last few months. I am familiar with the effects of a low estrogen dose without an androgen blocker in the past but this will be a lot different.
