The question is: What is the first concert you ever saw LIVE and in person. The year, the musicians, and the venue.
And I'll start it off with two categories -- classical and popular
Popular: 1970 - A band known that day as CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY, playing their music, in the Gymnasium of Carnegie Mellon University, (Admission was 50 cents) and within months (if not weeks) they changed the name to CHICAGO
Classical: 1966 - William Steinberg and the Pittsburgh Symphony at Syria Mosque performing Mahler's 2nd Symphony, The Resurrection

Popular Maria Muldaur and Tom Rush at Denison University. Mid 70's during her "Midnight At The Oasis" fame. She is till recording and I am still a fan.
Classical Requires a little more of stumble down memory lane. May have been a Chamber Orchestra at Columbus Museum of Art. The Vail Series at Denison University and an orchestra from Russia. Always in attendance at the Pro Musica when in town at out local theater.

Re: first concert you ever saw
Wekk first concert would technically be one I don't remember and prefer not to count. Foreigner with Billy Squire opening in late 1981. My first REAL show with a band I truly loved was Queen with Billy Squire opening in the summer of 1982. Queen being my first favorite band so it was quite intense for me. Plus I liked Billy Squire both times, Foreigner not so much.
Classical I saw Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Erie, PA in 1982 or 1983 with the Erie Philharmonic. Loved all things Ludwig Van ever since.

Popular: I think it was Cheap Trick, late 80s, right when "The Flame" was No. 1. I didn't like the song, but a friend's sister asked me to go, so I went. I was never sure if she "liked me" liked me, but I was certainly ambivalent about her. The concert was outdoors at a local amusement park. No seating; everyone stood up. Somehow, this girl and I ended up right next to one of the speakers. So, for two hours, I allowed myself to be deafened while this girl had the time of her life. She was a closet "rocker chick" who looked like a "plain Jane." And I was a closet case. So confusing.
The next time I went to a concert at that park, it was to see cute Rick Astley. So much nicer for a budding gay boy.
Nice topic, Dave. Happy holidays.

POPULAR:
"Weird Al" Yankovic at the Nautica Pavilion in Cleveland, July 2007. Fantastic concert. Hilarity, celebrity riffing, and he played like EVERY single song he's famous for all the way from the Michael Jackson parodies to "White and Nerdy." Lots of fun!
CLASSICAL:
Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra concert, 1993ish. I was like 8 years old so I can barely remember it, but I know my mom took me to their concerts whenever they played.

Re: first concert you ever saw
First one for me was actually just a few weeks ago:
Trans Siberian Orchestra, December 2015 in Ontario, California. Awesome concert.
Went with about a dozen other people. I had never been to a concert before, not much for public gatherings and such. But some people in the group were friends of mine, and they talked me into it. Glad I went with them.

Re: first concert you ever saw
A concert performed live before an audience and not recorded in a studio has a very different feeling and leaves a different impression.
Go to more and enjoy them.
