Dave craps on "Kingsman, the Secret Service"

Post by Dave (imported) »

Where do I even begin to tell the story of how bored I was?

A friend of mine quit after 20 minutes.

This is a James Bond Wannabe with a weird sense of humor. Gaia resurrects Charles Nelson Reilly from the dead -- no, no, no, that's only a fever dream...

There is a secret, very secret, ultra secret, absolutely secret service called Kingsman.

Samuel L. Jackson has this strange belief that earth is getting a fever (hence the Gaia myth comes into play) and is sick. So he determines a way to destroy 90% of the population of the world. Rather boringly, "Kingsman" gets wind of this and has to save the world.

If you make it to the "Land of Hope and Glory" sequence then you must be drunk, high or making love... That sequence will surely make you sober or limp your love life.

This is the dumbest plot I've seen in a long time...

You must have missed the last 5 CHUBBY CHASE movies.

Thanks for the heads up.

I went to IMDB and looked up Chevy Chase and the list of movies and TV shows he was in...

And yes, it seems true that I have missed most of his stuff since the mid 1990's.

That wasn't by design but it did work out well for my sense of taste and humor.

Cornelius Chase (chubby - chevy) has a rap sheet longer than most criminals. His movies don't cost a lot, nor do they make much. Just because you did one thing that was funny does not make you a comic, trying to live your life on that one success is at best pathetic.

The thing I took away from the movie is that the Brits seem extremely class conscious. The young guy who wants to be a "Kingsman" is male, white and good looking. Any yet he is considered somehow inferior because he isn't from a "good" family. Are people in the UK really so shallow?

I think that's the old stereotype and the writers used it to create an easy plot.

The entire movie seemed like it wanted to recreate the WW2 and Cold War spy stories like the original books by Ian Fleming (James Bond). I got sad news for the writers -- it didn't work.

I would go so far to say that Doctor Who is a better representation go British culture than "Kingsman" ...

Now that is an absurd and rather sarcastic argument.

Dr Who? This show keeps on going, using many of the same props and stories for years. Speaking of years

Question for you all,

When was the first episode of Dr Who shown?

Answer in a day or three.
